I ignore anything from BioWare now. Whatever they can do to appease as many of the masses as possible they will do. It's lame. They no longer care about great story telling, only providing as much candy to infantile whiners as possible.

BioWare and others have forgotten that RPG Game Developers are artists and story tellers. They should have something to tell and something to present. A great game isn't necessarily one that gives what every person of every orientation wants.

CD Projekt understands this. And hopefully they continue to understand what it means to develop great RPG games. What's the fun in role playing games if you just role play yourself? That's boring and dumb.

Part of the fun in Witcher 2 so far has been doing things that are morally questionable and actions and decisions I normally would never consider doing, but things I think Geralt would do. That's why I love role playing games!

I think its gross when a group of people force this behaviour on other people aswell.. i dont see all the other minorities being catered 2 ? i dont even see there pro gamer fans being catered 2 ? so why the gays ? who knows..

bioware has lost alot of respect from there old fans..i hope there new fans wont forget them soon lol

As for The Witcher, it already has a somewhat predefined main character. Geralt cannot be female either, and to my humble understanding females are more common than homosexuals. That said, I don't see the harm in an option to have Geralt come out of the closet.

The Witcher series is a bit different from games like Oblivion and Fallout where being able to define sexual orientation (straight/gay/bi) seems totally appropriate, assuming they have any sex at all.

Idiotic (and grammatically retarded) thread title aside, I kind of agree that it is very annoying when in Dragon Age 2 for instance the male player character is all but forced into having sex with another dude... that said I can't think of a single other game that does that, so I don't see the point of this thread. Besides like another poster said, Geralt is a set-in-stone character, the devs would have to shit all over the established canon to let the player make him homosexual.

Btw judging by how the post is written, his bad rep and grammar errors I'm assuming the op is just trying to rile people up.

But having homesexual relationships isn't necessarily 'changing the art' I am planning (eternally) a webcomic. The main character is gay. Why? cus it just fit him, I just knew he was, and it fit the themes of the story. I am not trying to cater to anyone. If gay people like it, great, but I am not writing it to get them to read it. It's the same with games. You don't know that a game is pandering to a group just because they include them in the game. It could be just because the game developer genuinely thought it fit the story or type of game. And just because they are a minority doesn't mean they should never be considered.

That was disgusting how DA2 gay stuff was forced on normal people.. i agree with u there ..its easy to see why so many people are angry over at bioware..

the only reasonable compromise i could see for the gays would be have a "turn gay on" somewhere in the menu so the others aint forced into it like in DA2

there is so many minorities out there.. why should just the gays get special treatment ? theres some cultures that cant particulate in anything involving homosexuality do they miss out just because of this small minority /

The Witcher is a game with established characters. Mass Effect is a different type of game RPG, in which you choose your background story, gender, race, sexual orientation, weapons of choice, and whether you're going to be polite to that reporter, or smack her down whenever you meet her.

Anyway, even if you're not trolling, it's pretty clear you're heterosexist.

So you're saying that if we can't include ALL minorities at once in a given piece of art, we should exclude them all? Every single game, book, movie, TV show should feature straight white men, cus it's just not possible to include all minorities? Perfect solution fallacy.

u cant cater to all minorities because alot of them dont like each other lol so if 1 minority cant get something why should the other ? they cancel each other out lol

I felt awkward sort of in that situation in the game. Then again, playing DA2 was awkward all together.
