Hi,

first off: this is a fantastic game with everything the fantasy genre needs. From grafix to plot and everything in between >> there is nothing like it, honestly!

But: I tried but still can not fathom why ever those QTE's found their way into the game.
I mean, it might be alright (and even funny) during armwrestling, boxing or loading up a ballista, but to put QTE into key elements of the game is worse then announcing "Gothic 4" only to hand out "Arcania" - maybe some folks will know what I mean.

Actually I died enough times for three games by trying to outlive the QTE in Flotsam (freeing the elven women).
First it had been the dragon (during the prolog). While this only had been a mild spoiler this is followed up by the Kayran >> just hammering any key/mouse button in a mindless way to kill an endmonster? Not quite the cream of game making.

I suppose there will be a lot more of these QTE-sequences, once Flotsam is history, but I am sure I will never see any of them, simply because because of the uninstall function.

It is not because of having spent money for something that I can not use, it is a lot more about being disappointed in perhaps the most talented game makers all around today.

Thank you for reading...

you can turn off qtes. like the ones during the dragon chase. but lmb bars will still be there.
I have to agree with this one.

The QTEs don't really add anything to the core game, and I for one prefer to keep that sort of thing in the minigames.

Ok, the "click to not die" version is annoying, but somewhat tolerable.
The "button mashing" version is just lame.
I very much agree. I just find the qte's very irksome and pointless. Although they can be turned off you're still stuck mashing the lmb which doesn't laways register the click.

I don't mind them in the minigames but they are a real pain in the main plotline.

?? to my - limited, as it seems - knowlege you can only deselect hard QTE's?
But, thank you anyway - helps a bit in feeling not that alone with an opinion :)!

All the others that took their time to answer to this post: thank you, too - maybe this will be acknowledged by someone able to actually do something about this, thus making this great game the more enjoyable.

There still is some hope - I mean: "they" reacted in a positive way to complains of "islamic" issues, why not on this problem, too.

In mini-games it works well I thought (at least the boxing is more fun than the original's) and maybe the dragon bit at the start is ok but like others said the button mashing ones are just annoying/lazy.
As has beeen said Time and again on here, you can unchecked the Hard QTE thing in Options. What is left is tolerable, although I did skipped the fist fighting in Flotsam altogether as I find that annoying the way it has been set up ( I liked it in the first game ). I'll probably just skip the fist fighting altogether, unless it becomes abosolutely necessary in the main quest ( such as at the Gallows in Flotsam ). As to the mouse button not registering clicks, that sounds like a mouse issue and not the game. I have been using a wireless mouse. Does fine until the batteries die at a crucial moment. : )
People were pissed when this was first announced, and there were a number of vocal threads at TW2 site.

I don't mind the QTE in the boxing, but putting them in boss battles was a mistake and they know it. That's why they patched in the option to turn them off.

... got both patches, and: everything you can do is unhook the HARD QTE's. You can do nothing like turning them off alltogether.

Concerning the lag between animation sequences - they are present, just as well as the fact that you can not open a door with sword drawn (when in a hurry after a fight).

In fact you have to wait a fraction of a second to put away the sword, open the door. Then you have to wait until Gerald follows your advice to climb up, floor after floor, then you will have to wait until Gerald gets it that the one thing important now is to cut loose three women (burning house in Flotsam).
All these fractions of waiting for the next sequence keeps me dying - all due to all the added up lags, and the QTE.

Ok, I confess - I was born in 1946 but although this seems a long time past, it did not keep me from finishing all of the most recent RPG's in a successful way :).
The only thing: Witcher II looks (and feels) far better then any other game, even TWII.

So until some gentle soul eradicates those darn QTE's for good, I will try to grow an additional set of right hand fingers - wonder what will happen first, me being a mutant or them finally responding by the only sensible action (QTE=off!!).
If wishing could make it ...

Or alternatively, someone could just mod in a quick & dirty fix.

Actually, I'm about to go to bed, but .. tomorrow I'll see if I can rig up a really quick autohotkey script, that rapid-fires mouseclicks if you hold down something else.
That way, rather than mashing, it's just holding down, say, F1 or something.

In those mini games such as boxing it works well and even better you can chose not to do them and still enjoy the game. The problem is when the QTE are part of boss battles some gamers have problems so the ability to shut them off is very important.
QTEs work well in the mini-games, but I agree with everyone else: putting them in the combat was just goofy, and mucked up the gameplay especially in boss battles. I'm looking for cues rather than enjoying what's happening.

FYI, disabling difficult QTEs in options doesn't make them go away entirely. Is there a way to shut them off completely?

QTE didn't ruin the game. It ruins it for you because you dislike it. I think it add mores variety to gameplay.
One could say this has been debated to death; but since it hasn't been "solved" I will comment in hopes of least getting devs' attention.

First of all, I don't mind them at all, personally.

Some people REALLY dislike them or have major impediments with reflexes. You may wonder how such poor reflexes can play the game at all, but on Easy the rest of the game is doable for bad "clickers."

So, I think a patch that makes ENTIRELY SKIPPING them an option is called for. (Disabling Difficulte QTEs does not equal skipping them.) For example, it would be as simple as making the Kayran fight go to cut scene and end when the 3rd or 4th tentacle is destroyed. Kinda changes the original design vision, but doesn't break the fight at all.

Even though I kinda like the QTEs, even do them on Hard, I would offer one more suggestion. The prompt symbols could be larger. Even when I know what is coming, I find myself staring at a small, fixed point on the screen awaiting the que. If you are gonna add an orange icon flashing on my screen, might as well make it visible. :)

The vast majority of them are in the Prologue and Act I. I understand your frustration, but press on! You will love it.
