i've been through the game twice already - once with roche and once with iorveth.

i still haven't managed to see that scene where ambassador shilard is with geralt and they're looking at a map - the one we saw in the trailers and promos. can anyone tell me where/when that is, or better yet, find it on youtube?
video

The scene is not in the game.

Yeah, that trailer was mostly a way to introduce the major political players in the North. It's a damn good scene though ;)

yeah, it is. and i was hoping that in the game you'd be able to take it further. ah well.
I imagine this scene as taking place after or prior the battle at la valette castle if foltest hadn't been killed, as shilard asks you to go to his tent when approaching the siege tower in the prologue.

I would have liked this scene to be in the game, it would have done ALOT to help new players understand the nations of the north and the empire of the south

Very much agree, it also emphasises how Geralt's fate is very much in his own hands.
That is indeed an amazing trailer - perfectly introduces the major roles in the game, and what the current state of the world is, as you begin. The line at the end is an excellent nod to the fact that Geralt's actions will help decide the outcome. Absolutely fantastic, but obviously just for promotional use - it would have felt a bit weird if it actually was in the game.
I asked about this in a topic too and after watching the video again after finishing the game i'd say the scene takes place in one of the earliest versions of the game because of some things mentioned in the video.
Here are some of them:
- Shilard is talking about Demavend as if he was alive.
- You can see the territory given to the Order of the Flaming Rose on the map whereas Geralt learns Radovid gave them a new home.
- Shilard talks about the rebellion as if they are talking before the assault on castle or as if the assault failed.
- You can see in one of the pictures, on Radovid's side stands Philippa, who left the court sometime ago, probably just before Witcher 2 begins or just after the beginning of Witcher 2.

Seriously it's just another plothole among many others but even with this many plotholes the game is excellent, i can't imagine how would it be without these plothloes, RPG game of the last decade maybe?
I agree. The shilard's scene was indeed awesome. I shiat on my pants when i first watched it. The scene should be IN the game. Why have they stripped it off? :(

In my opinion, the trailer's aim was to introduce to the world and its politics and social issues, rather than showing a scene from the game. The things you pointed out had to be explained or just shown, f.e that Demavend was a weak king, that OofFR still exists, or that Philippa is the chief advisor on Redanian court. CD Projekt did it in the best way possible, IMO.
