this is such horse crap. MAGICALLY its now "SOMEONE ELSES" fault? is this what cdp has come to? a company that just shifts the responsibility elsewhere so it never has to deal with things?
It shifted all the responsibility for game support to GOG, and now its shifting the blame for its own forum being down to some 'outside contractor', that magically - even though it is its JOB - can not get a forum up and running in a MONTH? in addition to the time it had to set up the forum before the shutdown? you would think any responsible company would have fired the company and hired someone else... this is just insulting now.
there is just no way that any of this has anything to do with technical difficulties, ESPECIALLY if we are to believe that they have an outsourced the project to a 'professional team' that couldnt even check their own work before implimenting it for their client?
COME ON.

I used to work for an IT service provider as the grease monkey responsible for the server hardware. When we were underbid on one of our long-term contracts, it took several months of work to transfer the data and hardware out of our facility, and our competitors repeatedly called us for instructions on how to do their job--too bad for their new client and its customers. Some of their software boys also managed to have a little meltdown one day when they couldn't get one of their temporary servers running in our data center until I leaned over and snapped the "ON" switch on their power cable, which was actually quite a bit more help than I was supposed to give them.
My point is that I don't know what's going on with the official forum, and I really hope it's back up soon, but I also know from experience that it's entirely possible to get into contractual situations that make software and hardware management legally as well as technically difficult. It's definitely fair to express frustration, but CDPR's announcement was at least careful not to make an implausible claim.

ArnoldJ.Rimmer: by the time they get the forum up and running we will all have read and wrote it all here,so whats the point of another forum ?
Just leave it all here, the other would be just a barrage of "where the f*** were you? " threads.
consider this a refugee camp thats become permanent.
we are the gypo`s of the game world.....
wanna buy some heather ?...oh hang on,theres already for sale threads appearing...lmao
This forum is quite a mess though... I mean everything is under a single forum - tech issues, gameplay, ranting, lists, feedback. Search is helpful, but it is rather difficult to navigate. That being said, it is rather unusual for a game to be without an official forum so long after the release date. The devs should have had a Plan B in case of something like this.Just leave it all here, the other would be just a barrage of "where the f*** were you? " threads.

plan A was to release the game with the old forum and show that off to the console developers they were selling to.
then some bright spark at CDP said "you know they are going to go nuts when they spot the consolised sections ?"
so they shut it down so the prospective buyers didnt see how much pc elitists hated console ports of games.
and as they told everyone this was going to be made for pc and then MAYBE consolised, they paniced and hit the off switches.
[well thats my theory,in the absence of official story i claim it as true] lol

While the game itself (story/graphics, etc) is astoundingly good. There is hardly anything technical, whether it's the official forums not being up, the no voice slider in the game, the tiny text UI, the difficulty patching, the different versions for almost every country and the fact the game works better with a gamepad (!) than mouse and keyboard, etc - has gone wrong to some degree.
If the game was just better than average, all these technical problems would have brought it down. The Witcher 2 is so good a game, it is surviving these issues - just.

but these issues will be the first thing people dwell on when witcher 3 is announced,it affects pre orders and confidence.
we are a fickle bunch since the start of consolising and bad ports.
I for one will be checking VERY carefully if they consolise the next game, and if so i am afraid this is my last witcher game.

Nah, they decided to shut down forums for good as soon as they realized there were going to be big problems with the activation of the retail game. Not cause they didn't want to deal with angry buyers but cause all the people who got curious after reading the positive reviews would come to the forum to check things before buying. As the guy in the Thanks For Smoking movie said "You're not trying to convince who already has an opinion cause you will never win him over. What you're trying to do is convincing the mass of people who don't have an opinion yet" Or something along those lines, lol. Anyways, it's just my little contribute to the conspiracy theory ;) plan A was to release the game with the old forum and show that off to the console developers they were selling to.

Why there's no forum yet?
Cause it would become apparent that the reason for the delay is exactly what I wrote. ;P

No, but there's a funny picture as the background of http://www.en.thewitcher.com/forum/ that just about sums up the feelings of many people on the issue.

@yayodeanno That was not the case, it's actually way more complicated than that. However, new forums are almost ready, we are testing them right now as a matter of fact. Hopefully it won't take more than just a couple days to bring them back up.
Once again I apologize to everyone for this inconvenience.
