evilchamp: WE (PC users) are the only ones that can play this game right now.

That is rare for this day and age.

Instead of complaining that this game might eventually go to consoles, lets enjoy the privilege of being the only ones to play it.

Seriously.

AeddGynnvael: Sorry, but nobody even once "complained that the game will go to consoles eventually".
If you don't want to read any posts in the thread, at least don't accuse people of things they didn't say.
Yes, you're right. I blindly posted my comment in a thread titled "When is the PC version coming"

Not my fault that:
1.You didn't bother actually reading the OP and a few other posts that summarize everything this thread is about;
2.You can't understand what the thread title means;
3.You accuse people of things they didn't say or do.

Moradin27: How can you say it's consoised? Why do you think that CDR concentrated on the PC version first?
They didn't do a simulataneous release like many other games. What does this tell you?
avatar
AeddGynnvael: It tells me that they released it buggy and unpolished on PC first, because screwing over PC gamers and then "fixing" some of the issues is a hell of a lot easier than screwing over console gamers and then fixing the issues, because Micro$oft make patching on the 360 extremely expensive and hard.
As I said, PC gamers = lab rats for the REAL release of this game (the console one).

Besides, were you ACTUALLY expecting them to release it similtaneously?
They haven't got the nerve to admit they screwed PC gamers over and lied to them, that the console versions have been in development for a long time after (unsuccessfully) convincing us that the game is "PC exclusive" , "PC-oriented", etc., when it clearly showed how untrue that was in all the gameplay footage they released.
The 360 controller-played E3 presentation was just the icing on the cake.
Purely specualtion. What proof do you have apart from them using a 360 controller?
Hell Telltale used a 360 controller in their demonstration of Jurassic Park, even though at the time, they had no plans for a 360 release.
It seems unfair to make such claims that they screwed us over and lied to us.

They need to redo the UI, thats what makes the game consolized and nothing else. When the forum is up I'm gonna nag the hell out of them about this, especially after all the 'pc focus' talk.

But they DID lie to us, about the game being PC-exclusive and about no console ports in sight until a long time after the release.
Can you deny how they marketed it as a PC exclusive?
Can you deny how they claimed that they have no plans for console versions for such a long time?

Also, that patching a broken PC release is times easier and less tedious than patching a broken console release isn't speculation, it's fact.

There is nothing consolish about the UI at all.

I'm laughing at you. You can't hear it, but it's happening, I assure you.

Well I'm not. While I can see some elements of the UI being slightly leaning towards the consoles, it still feels very much like a PC game. Didn't think it felt like a console game until I read about the complaints of it being as such. There are even controller users complaining about how unintuitive the interface design is, e.g. not realising that it was possible to just pick up one item instead of always "Take All".
I can't believe people are debating this. The UI is straight up made for gamepad not mouse.

Let's just compare it to the TW1 EE UI - that was a work of art. I think it's safe to say gamepad support is at least one reason we won't be seeing anything like it in TW2 unless they go mouse and keyboard only.

Almost everything about the new UI says "console".

It's being debated because it is not a clear-cut issue. Just like how you and I are not in agreement on this thought.

Making provision for gamepad support in no way negates the continued applicability for KB/Mouse. Not everything has to be mutually exclusive.

That said, having gamepad support also does not make it "console". PC users can use controllers too. There has been gamepad support ever since PCs became a viable consumer class gaming apparatus. Remember the Gravis gamepad of old?

If it was console UI I would imagine it was easier to use with pad? Because I have only heard bad things. I didn't notice any console things during my playthrough, could be because only console I own is Playstation 1. Now If they ruin TW3 by favoring console children I simply wont buy a single game from them anymore and I hope CDProjekt burns. Shame that I already believe TW3 will be ruined no matter what if/when they announce console port.

I think Morrowind has the best inventory I have ever seen, easy to find whatever you want.
It was better suited to a pad before the patch, now it's a nightmare.

@Kartomn yep Morrowind is a lesson on how inventories should be done.
The game UI does seem like it's made for consoles to me. It's an awesome game, but all the icons that tell you when to climb/jump et cetera completely remind me of a console game. Kind of similar to Ass Creed and Alpha Protocol.
Console UI also generally have larger icons and less "cluttered"/cleaner look than pure PC game UI. I wish, however, more developers would make customizable menus and UIs. I tried playing the first Witcher on my PC via an X360 controller, and the icons and text were just too small to see. Withcer 2 is perfectly designed to be able to sit further away and still have a good overview of what things are. Apart from the battle log, which is tiny, even for PC users.
