Just a very minor, minor annoyance - but the volume adjustment keys on my keyboard don't work in The Witcher 2 for some reason (yet work fine with practically every other game)

To adjust the volume I either have to alt tab to desktop and adjust the Windows Volume control or quit to the menu and change it there - which is a bit of a pain when it is much easier to just hit the volume control key on my keyboard.

Not a big deal at all, but if anyone has else noticed this and knows a possible hotfix for it or something that would be great.

stop being lazy ? LOL

your already at your computer right ? use the traditional way of turning sound down.
If you're referring to turning volume on speakers down, I play with headphones....

Yea but your computer still has full control over the sound it pushes out.

Use volume control or any other program that has power over your speakers and turn it down..or use your headphones to turn it down.. there is many options..

thankfully the game is ALT/TAB able without crashing :P enjoy this advantage ;)
It would be a shit-tonne easier to just have the volume keys on my keyboard working, so I can adjust the volume instantly without having to pause the game and disrupt my enjoyment of it - which is exactly why I am asking....

Don't really care if you think it's lazy or not - I don't think it is but it's irrelevant in any case.

Map a shortcut to Steam if you have it, then shift+tab to get the overlay. Your keyboard volume should work then.
Nah don't use Steam unfortunately.

so let me get this right.

Its not lazy and not a option to alt tab(2 seconds) to hit volume ?
Its not lazy and not a option to use a free program like steam to help you even quicker ?
Its not lazy and not a option to use your headphones to turn down volume ?

so basically its fix my keyboard or shut tha fuk up ? lol

I don't think it's possible outside of using Steam or some other external program to control it. Taking screenshots with the Print Screen button doesn't work either, so it's safe to assume that the game disables functions like that while it runs. There aren't really any workarounds to speak of (as of yet). Sorry.

If you have nothing useful to say go away please. I've already explained why having to alt tab is a pain in the ass (it's quicker to change it it in the menu by the way, but that's not the point), my headphones don't have any built-in volume control and no I'd rather not install Steam - a program I never use - just for to fix a small issue on one game.

Did I demand anyone to fix this? No, it was a simple question with hopefully a simple solution.

Okay, thanks for letting me know.

i did say sumthin usefull.. i listed every option u had excluding the obvious in menu :P

and u still didnt like it :P
TC is right. This problem also occurs in Metro 2033, though I found a solution and made a topic for it.

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/i_figured_how_to_get_media_keys_to_work

Just add the game to your Steam library (if you don't have steam then download it). Then press Steam Overlay in game and you'll be able to adjust the volume and mute it.

edit: nvm someone beat me to it lol

I think it's the way you said it, suggesting that somehow his complaint is not valid. It is a valid complaint, though. I too am somewhat disappointed that the usual way of adjusting volume has been disabled. I'm sure there's a good technical reason for it (like the game intercepting all keyboard commands, rather than just the ones that are relevant to the game), but it would have been a lot more convenient if the game had left those functions alone.
