Need help with witcher 2. I updated it to 1.2 and still get bad framerate even at lowest possible graphic settings. I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 5200+ 2.7 ghz, 2 gb ram and Nvidia 9500gt graphic card. I know it's not a very good system, but i was able to run Mass Effect 2, Dragon age 2 and almost any other game on highest settings (minus the aa). Can i somehow play witcher 2 on pc, or should i just wait for it to come out for xbox360?

Could the the graphics card. That one is a pretty basic model, how much memory does the Video card have? You may be very much on the minimum requirements.

I know dragon age 2 had some pretty basic graphics in comparison.

I'm running an i7 2.67Ghz with a Radeon HD6870 1GB and the game runs fine but not great.

It's a 512 MB graphic card. I didn't expect the game to run at high settings because i read the requirements, but the game lagging on lowest possible settings makes me think that maybe it's because of something else, not my system.

Yeah that is a good point. Make sure the Texture down scaling is set to High, apart from that I don't know. See if Nvidia is working on new drivers for Witcher 2. I know that AMD is working on getting Witcher 2 to work better with their cards.

Good luck dude.

try this, and don't open configurator, it doesn't support such values, it will rewrite them
P.S. you should replace [Rendering] section in %USER%/The Witcher 2/Config/User.ini

Worst off, you could always try lowering the resolution. That should help, though it'll make the game look a bit blurry.

Yeah, everything is set to maximize performance, and i have installed the latest nvidia driver which was made especially for witcher 2. I really can't see whats causing such low fps. Thanks for your help anyway, but it seems that i'll just have to wait for it to be released for xbox360.

Thanks, that kinda worked. The game is still a little bit choppy but it's playable

Lowering the resolution makes it run smooth but also makes it look horrible. I know that graphic isn't everything but it looks really blurry, to that point that i can barely read the letters and also i can't seem to find any resolution that has similar proportions like my natural 1440x900 res, so it looks really stretched, thanks anyway...

try to run the game in window with 1280x720 (under 1280x720 even windowed mode doesn't help - game UI is just awful)

In fact, the 9500gt is in terms of performance far, far below the 8800 series, which is the official minimum requirement. I think .ini-tweaking won't get you very far, especially if you decide not to lower the resolution.
My advice would be either to replace the 9500gt with a more powerful card, or to wait for the console version.
I've just installed the game. I haven't read anything about how to check fps. Is there a keyboard command?

Besides the graphic card do you think i should replace anything else? I enjoy playing games on the pc much more than on my xbox360, and i'm a little disappointed in CDprojekt for not thinking about users with lower-performance PCs. I mean you can have great graphics like in ME2 without making such a demanding game, like the witcher 2.
