When the game came out I was so pissed and irritated at all the little changes they had done to the interface that made the game feel so consolized, then came the tedious combat, awful tutorial, the lack of storage, etc.

2.0 has now fixed 99% of the problems I had with the game. TW2 in its current state is GOTY material, but I think it'll succumb to the likes of Skyrim because it'll be fresher in gamers' memories.
What about 2.0 makes you feel this way? I am curious.
Now that you're talking about the interface I'd like to add that I'm just disappointed that they didn't address this(view picture). It's bloody annoying to sell stuff when that list covers your inventory.

On the other hand, it's totally deserves a GOTY award.

I finished the game twice with 1920*1080 16:9 resolution.

Still hasn't seen it, ever.
I love Witcher 2 and I'm sure Skyrim will be great too, but for me GOTY will be Dark Souls - and I haven't even played it yet, but by all accounts it's vastly improved over Demon's Souls and that game is one of my favourites of all time.

It might be my resolution then, the UI is clearly designed to be used on a widescreen display.
My 2.0 game also goes more fluid, specially during the minigames. Huge difference, really. Also (I play in medium specs) I can put the antialias in 16x and keep the same framerate. Impressive patch.

Really great job, really.
I haven't played 2.0 yet, have they fixed the awful combat lag, where you press a button and nothing happens for a few seconds?

It's definitely better. However, if you are expecting God of War-like responses where pressing the block will interrupt an attack that you have already started then you won't be satisfied.
The minigames are still bugging the shat out of me. I much prefer them in the first game.

Boxing - All I do it push the button it shows me on screen. YAWN. In the first game I could mouse click to punch just like my sword fighting.

Poker dice - The view is all wrong. It's difficult to roll the dice now cause of the angle. In the first game it was overhead and I could really toss them well. Here any power to my toss and they fly right off the table.

Arm wrestling - I simply follow a little bar as it moves. Boring.

They really ruined the mini games. :(

I totally agree, is like in TW2 is about quantity about quality. Anyway the poker dice is good. The boxing is horripidus :(

That's because TW2 doesn't support drivers-enabled AA, so framerate will stay the same no matter what you choose :)

I believe he was referring to the accumulated changes all the way through 2.0, which is quite a lot of improvements.

Wether that's what he meant or not, I am curious why he thinks the game in it's current state is GOTY material.

Also, he specifically said:
