Alright, yeah, I having trouble here. I've abusing the crap out of Quen to minimize damage from fire and strikes from the dragon and got to the point where I'm on the top of the tower with her at around 1/2 health, but unfortunantly can only get a good strong hit on her once in a while if I'm lucky on top of trying to dodge most of her attacks. This strategy isn't working for me, I barely get a sliver of health down on the bar before I finally die because I just can't find a good opening to attack.

At least when the dragon was fighting me in the room I could just spam a few strong attacks and cut her health a good amount whenever she started breathing fire. Here, she just flies away to breath fire leaving me with no opening. Then she lands on the side and circles around, trying to swipe and bite me. Quen will only stop me from taking the damage from the swipes, but they'll knock me off my feet and any chance to take my own swipe at her. Is there a better strategy here or attack or what, because I am not getting that damn life bar to budge.

I just finished killing it with normal attacks ... bait, roll out then long distance attack ... takes a while but I couldn't find any other option ... even tried the Y sign to no avail

I just kept hacking at it. By the time I got to the dragon boss I had +133% resistances to bleeding and fire and a ton of vitality thanks to all the armor you get from doing the gargoyle contract. I was able to absorb damage whle hitting the dragon with heavy strikes from the silver sword I found that gives bonus damage to larger enemies.

How do you shut off the runes for the gargoyle contract? I cant figure it out :\

Get the rune books one of the vendors and in each room with the seals there's a book on a pedestel that will give you the correct order in which to put out the runes.

Edit: watch out though one of the rooms has a golem in it. Be sure to free up some inventory space as well since you'll also find weapons in the chests that have the recipies for the armor pieces. You'll find the recipie for the chest piece in the sewers and the gloves, legs, and boots are in the chests guarded by gargoyles.

Ah i had no idea about the rune books, thanks for the help!

Do you know where the NPC is who can craft the recipes you get, assuming you mean Vran?

And yeah I found out about the golem the hard way, he did some rush attack that pretty much destroyed me.
