I had lost my save game so found one posted in a forum with the choices close to what I made to import. I've read that your money wasn't suppose to be imported by I've got over 250k orens right at the start of the game.

Anyone else got this?

I finished Witcher 1 with 25,000 orens and started my save import with something like 350 orens. So that sounds a little weird.

same... but maybe after prologue it gives u the money

It just means the OP's imported save probably had some gazillions of orens via cheating is all. Nothing strange. :p

Yeah I had several saves at the ready for importing. One had about 24 million orens; which translated into about 240 thousand in Witcher 2. Safe to say that's a game breaker!

That's kinda what I assumed. But I was under the impression that money didn't transfer across at all. It's a real shame, might have to start again which kind of sucks, it really does kinda break the game. Unfortunately I didn't even realise how much money I had until after the prologue.

Maybe I can load that game up in the first Witcher and get rid of all the money.

Importing, even with no money "breaks" the game anyways. You'll note your imported weapons will probably last you half the game for instance.

*shrug* Having done one playthrough, I can't say that there's many narrative bonuses for importing, though not having completed a non-import playthrough, I can't say that with 100% certainty of course. Meaning, if you really want to experience the game as it was meant to be played, you probably shouldn't import at all.

Still in Act 1, but i wouldn't say it's gamebreaking. Replaced D'yaebl with some crafted steel sword after arriving in Flotsam. And Aerondight and Raven's armor should be epic quality items and I don't mind using them the whole game. Playing on hard and I'm not feeling invincible with those equipped.

Yeah - cheating in the first game to get money now breaks the Second game - lol. Owned.

Asfar as the other items go. They are fairly useless:

Ravens armor was good till the end of Act 1 where you got the Krayken armor. Way better.
The swords I had replaced halfway through the act 1. So they lasted even less. The steel sword was hardly better than the regular swords. And the silver sword Areond-something lasted a bit more - but still the Superb Witcher Silver sword is better.

So no game breakers. Adds a bit of immersion, but not a game breaker. :)

Costs of living. Triss is an expensive girlfriend. Have you seen how furnished that tent in the prologue was?

Just to put things in perspective with all this talk about by the end of Act 1 as evidence that you're not "breaking" the game by importing, that's essentially the half way, or even past the halfway point of the game.
