Man..i would be really shocked if that comment about mod tools not being available this year turned out to be true. That could have such a destructive impact on the longevity and community of this game.
Id personally prefer an official modding tool over DLC any day.

I get the sense they have their hands full. Patches and bug fixes first, then extras. I'd be disappointed though as well if there isn't any mod support for the game.

Marcin360: We are working on brining you patch 1.3 as soon as possible. We just want to make sure we get as many fixes in as possible. The patch won't be available this week but it is coming.
As far as official forums, there has been some progress but it's going to be some time before we bring them back online (won't be too long though).
I hope this clears it up a bit.
On the side note - I can't tell you what exactly will patch 1.3 include other than missing aspect ratios like 16:10, 4:3, 5:4.
It's great to see blokes like yourself from the CDPR team and other's post here, especially as the official forums are off line for now. As far as official forums, there has been some progress but it's going to be some time before we bring them back online (won't be too long though).

To me it demonstrates a degree of commitment to keeping in touch with your customer base / fans of the Witcher.
One thing that's quite telling though is the lack of an official response to issues raised by many people time and time again, such as the inclusion of QTE's, the menu / inventory system and other 'console' features included in the so called PC release.
Not good, folks.
Go one better, and respond, it will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe the QTE's and inventory were designed and implemented in anticipation for future console release.

Peetz: Excerpt from an interview with Tomasz:
GB: Do you plan on releasing an editor for The Witcher 2 in the same vein as what we saw with the Djinni adventure editor for the original game? If so, when might modding enthusiasts expect to get their hands on it?
Tomasz: We were impressed with what our community members were able to do with the first game. So, support for modders is definitely on our wish list although we’re not prepared to commit to anything at this moment. At best, the current outlook is probably not this year.

AudreyWinter: Well, that is not good, not good at all. And they hurt themselves badly by withholding the modding support. The modding community will die, before it even has a chance to flourish (as seen on the Nexus, the possibilities are already near exhausted). This will diminish the replayability of the game and ultimately the long term sales. Plus, we need to fix a lot of "features" which they can't even deliver with patches. ;)
From the interface, controls and media, it seems clear they had an agenda to get the game on console format quickly to try to match EA/Bioware, Bethseda and others to get some of their market share (they tried one and failed). And it does seem that the PC version suffered because of it.
I think its a serious miscalculation, especially as its the PC users that generated the notice/demand in the first place (testimonials=can you do this for my console request). Aah, well, many mistakes made getting Tw2 release (I won't say done yet). Hopefully Wisdom can be gained. Hindsight may be 20/20, but 20/20 vision people can still walk in front of a bus, especially while listening to an Ipod (stops them from hearing things aroud them..) :D We'll hope for the best....and scream "bloody mary" if its the worst...PC gamers testimonials work both ways after all...

I don't think it would hurt CDPR, to acknowledge the far from significant portion of their 'fan base' who feel that they haven't received 'value for money' and are quite rightly disappointed with aspects of the 'PC variant of the game'. In short it would go a long way to demonstrate that CDPR are not turning a deaf ear to these comments, which is one sure way to piss people off.
Most definitely it would be a good customer relations move on their behalf. Especially given all the self promotion regarding their commitment to the PC games market.

I personally don't feel ripped off. I want to support them financially and I have, by buying the game twice. I just assumed they would deliver a finished game. And now I assume that they actually will, only because I hold them to a higher standard. How can I not? I bought TWEE, and its a testament to their philosophy as developers, their post release support.
I really wish they wouldn't waste their talent on the funbox, in light of a broken PC release. I have my doubts the funbox kids would even like or relate to the game in the first place.

Almost completely agree. Like you, i don't feel ripped off, though they could've done it better if they focused on pc release more but one must agree CDPR is a really small company compared to all the other developers so it's hard for them to go on both consoles and PC whereas other developers don't do it this way just because they are lazy/want to gain more by giving less. I bought The Witcher 2 twice too, one from gog one from retail and if in the future they release a retail TW2EE with a price not as high as the original release price of TW2 i'd gladly buy it too, just to support them and i also hope they make unexpectedly high amounts of money for a developer of their size so with the money they get they can hire new people so not in the expansion but in the next game they can develop PC release and console release seperately or at least release the pc version much less consolized and then consolize it for the consoles. Heck i may even go buy a xbox 360 copy even though i don't have a xbox 360 if i have the money at the time, just to support the CDPR because even if they don't do exclusivley PC games anymore, they still value their PC gaming customers much more from all the other developers.I really wish they wouldn't waste their talent on the funbox, in light of a broken PC release. I have my doubts the funbox kids would even like or relate to the game in the first place.

By the time they fix the official forums most new community members will have moved on.
And by the time they released mod tools the modding community would have given up. So much wasted potential for what...the console release? Please.

You may not like the game being released in the consoles(and the pc version being consolized), most of the people do not like it and i do not like it either but if that's the way they can hold on to the market(or whatever the expression in english is) then i'd gladly wait for the mods as for the site, they are not handling it themselves but paying some third party to do this so the site still being down is not their doing.
