How's The Witcher 2 selling?

Despite warnings from CDP I've noticed the torrents are really active. That's not indicative of any loss of revenue (and in fact Portal 2 is still being torrented harder across the board) but it does beg the question, with TW2 being somewhat of a niche game (thank god) - how are sales going?

Can we get an official thumbs up or down?
I haven't heard about US or worldwide figures, but it is the top selling PC game in the UK and the 5th best selling game acoss all platforms, also in the UK. This did not account for digital sales, only boxed copies of the game. So yeah, it's doing pretty well.
"with TW2 being somewhat of a niche game "

Seriously? I don't know any game of 2011 that has gotten half the media coverage the Witcher 2 got since December 2010. Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2 and Batman: Arkham City are lesser known in comparison.

But maybe that's just my interpretation, since I was interested in that game since I finished Witcher 1 in 2007.
As of last week there were 200,000+ activations, according to the official site. They seem to be very pleased with the numbers...they said the initial 100,000+ figure was beyond expectations.

The official website said that they'd sold more in the first few days than they expected to, and this is part of the reason for the server problems they experienced on release day. They didn't give exact figures for sales, but they did say that they'd sold hundreds of thousands of copies in the first couple of days.

So it sounds like it's doing pretty well. And given how many reviews are at 9.0 or above, I imagine that it'll continue to do well.
The patch should help a lot as well.
Sad when an amazing and unique game like this is happy to sell 100,000 copies, yet drivel like MW3 already has millions of preorders on PC alone.

Do you really think you'd enjoy a game that appealed to the mainstream like MW3?

Really?
are you sure about that millions of preorders on PC? cus that would have it smashing PC sales records left and right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_PC_video_games

First person shooters tend to be big hits. I picked up Bad Company 2 a few weeks ago, which I get a kick out of playing once in awhile. Nice to change the pace now and then. By the way, are you going to marinade a flank steak for me? I'm getting hungry.

Don't spread false information. PC figures are rarely released, especially not by the likes of Activision. And like many PC titles, it will sell steadily over time. The retail situation is poor in NA so sales are considerably dependent on word of mouth/digital. TW1 sold 1.7m...I'm sure this will do 2m+ eventually.

Wait a minute.* Dungeon Lords* sold as much as Bioshock?

I'm not so sure about that list.

Sure. I could even throw it in a vacuum-sealed bag and air mail it to you, but you're probably better off just marinating your own. :p

Actually, I have no steaks in my freezer. I do have half an espresso fudge cheesecake in my fridge though. :/

PC only, remember, the console versions of Bioshock are not included there
I've preodered BF3 for PC, but will never preorder the console garbage COD:MW3 for PC, might buy it on my 360 or PS3 though.

I think Witcher 2 will be close to SC2 on the best selling ranks.
