NewYears1978: Wow, I really wish they would delete/lock the comments on the community page. So stupid.

Jlib, I am pretty sure I had the option to register (and did) but I wasn't required to activate
avatar
jlibster: cool. Thanks for a simple answer. As you and I know, if you purchased via GOG, you are already registered with them so registration was never an issue for me. ;-)
yeah no need to active. you download install and ready to play.
avatar
jlibster: Folks, did anyone purchasing the GOG version of Witcher 2 need Internet activation to play?
I could play without "activating." You do need to register to get to the DLC tho.
avatar
jlibster: I've said my peace to CDPR about that installer. It backfired. Wait a minute...you purchased the GOG Version and STILL had to activate it over the Internet to play ? please confirm.
Yep. When I click on witcher2.exe, it asks to use the launcher to ACTIVATE the game. I'll try and uninstall and erase EVERYTHING, like mippoh suggested, maybe that helps.

NewYears1978: I got Gothic II as well. Problem is I have a really hard time playing classic games..can't get past the graphics a lot fo the times :)
Yeah, I'm very jaded as well. but some games, you just gotta play them! Gothic 1&2 in Arcania graphics, but old gameplay and mechanics would SO kick ass!

I tired to register via the website. Links for registration there don't even work. I keep my XP box off the Internet for security reasons. I have no issue with registering and I did with EA/Bioware for Dragon Age:Origins which I kidda regret now. But I won't install anything through an in-game installer via the Internet. I believe there is safety in manual installations.
So, let's reset (deep breath).

When is the patch now expected?

glosoli: lol you should check the community page comments. Trolls make their lair there.
I am sooo embarrassed by such people. They cannot call themselves gamer. >:(

"Internal tests of Patch 1.1 are well under way. Our current target is to release it this evening. Please note that although we are doing our best to have it ready by then, the time still may change in order to be completely sure that the patch will function properly."

That is, never.

Nope.
I shut off my modem, and then installed and played.
No network connection needed.

At any time frame between 'any moment now' and 'Duke Nukem forever wait period'.

Funniest thing about old games though. When they first come out, they are so awesome and the graphics are just so great. Then you look back and go, what was I thinking. Funny how technology works.

I make an analogy about it. It's like when you are a kid and you draw a picture and you think, wow, this is pretty good. Then when you grow up and you find that picture you drew as a child and realize just how bad it really was. =)

Gothic would definitely be awesome if it was redone/updated!

Wow! Based on responses to inquiry in this 800+ post forum here, it sounds like the patch you used actually INSTALLED DRM. (assuming you purchased the GOG version) Man, oh MAN....I think the jury is in; Folks don't install the accidently leaked patches floating around on non-official sites. Could be poison to your Witcher 2 install. I'm now pretty confident that is why they removed yesterday's links.
What's knda sad for them is that at launch there was nothing but hype and ggod will towards Team Red. But due to the patch being delayed and the forum debacle, they are slowly but surely burning all their bridges.

I suspect, like all things, the actual percent of players who need the patch are in the very small, but very vocal minority. ;p
Maybe it's one of those facebook thing. They won't release it or start the forums till they get 50 000 followers on facebook. They won't give a patch launch time now until they fix their poor *** servers.
