zerolink: Considering i's above the recommended and I can play nearly every game on high, or maxxed out, I consider it high end. Hell, I play Arkham Asylum on high at about 40-50 FPS, so I dont think I should have a problem like this with the witcher 2.

MysterD: Arkham Asylum shouldn't be the benchmark test for how powerful your PC is.
Metro 2033 should be.
Metro is horribly optimized, but I can still run it on high-ish settings :/

zerolink: I'm running an i5 (4 core or it might be 4 logic) at 3.20 ghz :/ there's no way in hell my gpu is the bottleneck man. It's just frustrating that I can't even play this game. Thanks for trying to help me though, I truly appreciate it :)

I have everything on high on an AMD 720 3 core at 2.8 with an ATi 4850 512 MB and it runs pretty well.
Set everything to high and it runs at the same FPS as it does on medium (with ubersampling off and AA off of course.... never been a fan of AA).

Exactly.
Many have trouble running Metro 2033 full-blown.
That's why Metro - and other system-choking gorgeous-looking games - are a good pick for benchmarking.

My card can do AA pretty well... it's just that I actually like the jaggies lol. My old PC couldnt handle much AA so I ended up getting used to the jaggies and actually liking them XD

Lmao you're right XD, either way, I can still run Metro 2033 on high-ISH settings, if I turn tesselation off and crap then I run it pretty good on high lol. On a side note, Metro 2033 is an amazing book.... just like Sword of Destiny lol, I'm reading the spanish translation

I know at least 10 people that will get TW2 when the 16:10 patch is released. I almost didn't buy this game because of the 16:10 Bug.

jlibster: Someone asked about a patch separate installer file. I do most of my stuff on Linux (and get Linux games when I can). I keep my "gaming/testing" Windows XP box separate, and off the Internet. The reason is simple: Its a great way to see if any applications installed on it are doing anything "naughty". I have clientside & dedicated hardware firewall box, and keep the sniffing tools on standby. The biggest reason for this on my Windows Box was everyone making software for the MS OS, Microsoft included, seemed to feel they had the right to have my MS windows machine, "ping" them without so much as a "by your leave". I discovered some applications or games "broke" when denyed Internet. EA/Bioware even installed a MS Windows Service with DA 1 which I manually disabled. I discovered some borderline funny business on DA1 the moment I installed any DLC. If the machine was on the Internet, I got "in game ads" so clearly privacy was being compromised. I removed Da1 and swore off the new EA/Bioware.

I love GOG because my tests confirmed no funny business. I want to continue feeling that confidence with everything I get from GOG so, it would be cool for separate, offline install options for ALL their content including Witcher 2. Is there any reasons not to if the game is DRM free? Most of these auto-installers just download a separate *.exe anyway.

Zecrodus: I guess we can only blame pirates if there is no standalone patches. If this patcher is handled smart way it can be quite tricky for pirates to patch their games which is good (but I think they will find out around it anyways...)
I have installed the game and installed the DLC on 3 computers in my house just fine. The online patcher won't stop people from pirating

There is a patch coming next week , yet we still gannot get a list of fixes.
That is odd.
I'm not really having any issues besides the dlc loop bug.
But it does seem odd we cannot see a definative list if it is only a week from release.

I find it weird that I'm running the game flawlessly with my i5 and ATI 5870. Only Ubersampling and SSAO are disabled and I have a very stable FPS that never drops below 40. I've been reading up on all the issues ATI owners have and i have to admit I feel lucky.

That being said, i can't run BRINK with 30+ FPS on the lowest settings ='(

I actually went there and found it funny cuz I'm playing battlefield bad company 2 on high at about 40-50 FPS. Then again, I modded my card. So yeah, I know what that chart said, but apparently my card is jesus cuz most of the games I'm not supposed to run on high, I already do :/
Hell, I played Mafia 2 on high today at around 40 FPS -_- this is frustrating. No disrespect but people dont seem to understand I did a lot of shite to my card to make it run a lot better than it normally does, at the cost of battery life and burning my legs each time I play, but meh.

Use the 11.5a hotfix driver from May 16..my fps went from around 30 to 90+.

No disrespect taken.
No doubt if you're hardware savvy enough to modify voltages and overclock your card and other hardware, then you're definately knowledgabe enough to realize expecting desktop performance from mobile parts is asking a bit much.

I have an Asus G73JH with a mobility HD 5870 / 8gb ram / i7- Q740 and i havent even tried this game on that machine as i know from having it installed on our desktop gaming rigs that i wont be impressed with TW2's performance on the Asus since our desktop rigs easily outclass my laptop.

Its not that people dont understand, ive been building pc gaming rigs for over 20yrs, and i overclock and mod my hardware way way more than the avg user.
Its been a long time hobby that i enjoy.

Unfortunately laptops arent the best for pc gaming rigs with their limited upgradability and price / performance is horrible compared to desktop counterparts.

Being HONEST and realistic is understanding that even a high end gaming laptop is never gonna give you the performance of a high end gaming desktop rig.

i am not an expert in pc software,what i want to know is if it is safe to install the 275.27 beta driver ?i mean is no risk to install it? i think they are not named beta for no reason and not officiall and on the site they even warn us with red writing not to inst,but i want my witcher 2 to run good,so is it safe or not?
