So if you had the Securom version and manually replaced the exe with the GoG version do you still need to d/l the retail patch or go with the GoG one?

NewYears1978: Crappy leaked beta? The links came right off the Witcher support website. They posted the links but then removed them. Later all the links were working and the patches where there, they just didn't repost the links.

So it's not really "unofficial" OR "leaked".. Also it has OFFICIALLY been stated the patch is DONE, just that there are server issues..which also gives validity to those patches.

AudreyWinter: Well... I downloaded and installed the GoG patch, which was linked in post #724, which was supposedly from the official site. Not that I did find it there, they only say that the patch is ready, but still problems with server infrastucture.

This patch made the left analog stick non functional for menus - not that the functionality was good before. And that reminds me that I should have tested, if they made the control quick switch key work or not, damn. I reinstalled the game, so too late now. I'll better wait for a really official announcement now. ;)
Another victim of the patch that got released in a hurry. In my "virtual money" for closest guess we now have two estimates by forum posters. Mine is Friday, May, 27th 2011 20:30 GMT. The other is May 26th, 2011. 16:55 GMT. Any other takers...

Hey marcin360, i know you guys must be REALLY busy with the patch and all...

But are you guys willing to release the toolset , in order to create some amazing mods?

This shouldn't necessarily be with the next patch or even the one after that....but it would be nice to have somewhere in the future.

Hard call. Gut feeling, would be match original version with patch...there is the Securom registry entries and possibly other SecuROM crud that SecuROM would always leave behind! This includes various files, null registry entries (which are royal pain in the tuccus to remove) and possibly other files hidden from all except power command line users. SecuROM isn't just in the exe so if you use the GOG patch, you may leave the secuROM junk behind and have no idea what that will do long term. Of course you may confuse the patch with the fact you have the gog exe and the dll required with possible retail file/registry entries. It may or may not mess up your game install.

Suggestion: If possible export your saves once the patch is out, uninstall and then reinstall from scratch, (suggest replacing old exe before uninstall) and applying the patch the reinstall. Or try installing the patch and let us know if it works. We of the Guinea pig Corps will salute you.

nope.
Hope they nerf quen and buff parrying/ripostes.
Hum... now I get a nice message "please use launcher to activate the game". And here I thought I had the DRM-free version... still blond. Because there is nothing you can do with the launcher to activate. I remember that the first time around I registered with my serial, but I did not activate the game. Because that is for proud SecuROM owners, right?

Anyway, the Troll Trouble DLC is checked in the "Downloadable content" section. I guess that is because I uninstalled using the Windows uninstaller, but didn't delete any of the files that were left in the installation folder, I only made sure there was no trace of the witcher2.exe file and pack0.dzip. So it seems that DLC remains, unless you delete it manually.

Of course that doesn't help me too much now, because I can't play, because the game wants to be activated. Seriously weird...

You buy the GOG version or from another source (DVD, D2D, Steam...)?
I get the impression they're really having to start over on this patch. But who knows.

Could be why they removed the links LOL. Care to give your ETA on proper patch release?

Late friday, because as you can tell, I'm pessimistic.
