jlibster: But what if people seeing the patch try to apply it to a patched build? How would people know not to?
News post/forum post/adding it to the game page/common sense.
looks like we may not get it today.
Reinstalled witcher 2, Put in CD key, get window that says checking for updates. Starts downloading a 28 mb update :3

Why not? They had it posted already, but then removed it and said would be back shortly.

You have other information?

Seems like I recall the bonus content being 28mb...it's probably not a patch...plus the patches were all about 15mb if I remember correctly.

You do realize that most mere mortals just take an *.exe file, look for the latest patch main site, and double click it right? Many people don't bother with forums. While I agree with you in principle, in my experience, who was it that said, "if you make an idiotproof system, the universe just makes better idiots...."?

PS: Still no GOG joy...

Yeah hehe. Typically a game has a version file anyways..it doesn't let you patch and already patched game. So if the retail GOG version is changed to include patch 1.1 the version file would reflect this, thus not letting you install the patch.

Common sense (to me)

No lol I say that based on the fact that it is less than 2 hours till another day here on the west coast of the US :p

I'm just talking about the GOG version. If you bought the GOG version and are looking for news on the patch and aren't checking the homepage, well, you've got bigger problems.

Edit: and yeah, what NY said..it wouldn't let you patch anyway. It's late, I'm clearly overtired..

chautemoc: Rarely do PC game issues apply to everyone.
avatar
revial: Just as rarely do people not post about an issue as if it affects everyone. ;)

I mean, I have no problems with the game and have beat it three times now, but obviously you are going to hear from people who have issues more than people who don't.
It is weird indeed. I downloaded Troll Trouble no problem. I saw it on the job postings board, clicked on it, yet it didn't appear in my journal. Poof gone. Granted I had done 3 other quests prior to selecting Troll Trouble form the board. Perhaps choices I had made negated my ability to do the quest. Oh well, next time around I'll grab all board quests at once.

Oh well in that case, it's already the next day here in Texas..its 12:15am

Why do they torture us so? This is just like what my Dallas Mavs did to me last game and tonight..nearly losing, stressing me out, then pulling out wins in the last 5 mins of the game.

Only if it blocks. And in my experience large patches will often install regardless. I may test your theory on a virtual Xp box just to see how much "fool proofing" is engineered into the installers...

PS: still no GOG joy...hey guys....when did you say you were restoring the links again...
