genin7: Hi,
First of all as i know , this GOG digital versions of TW2 was auto patched during the first launch isn't it ?
moreover i am happy with with performances and i fear that the patch do harm my version

considering i haven't yet registred my game should i do it before or after patching the game?

thanks in advance
That was the "activation patch", the one that converted your game from a heap of useless bits to a playable game.

You need to register before you download any packs or patches. If you are satisfied with the game as it stands and don't want any, not registering is an effective way to make sure you don't get them :)

hlhbk: Any chance the 16:10 resolutions fix is in the patch being released today? I won't play the game until it's released.
No, it's not.
Probably Patch 2, maybe even Patch 3.

Eh, where do you know this from?

From thewitcher.com "The full list of all changes will be available upon the release of the patch": http://www.en.thewitcher.com/community/

So there is still hope.

It was confirmed multiple times by the devs in the comments of several posts on that page.

Ah, funny that I haven't seen it then.

It's not a matter of how hard it is (it should be easy, unless somebody hardcoded the aspect ratio), it's a matter of priority, resources, and time.

Trying to do too much in a software patch is worse than not doing anything at all. You do only so much as you can test and stand behind, until you have to get it out the door before your market walks away from you.

It may not be hard, but maybe there are a lot of other problems/bugs/optimizations that takes first priority.

Yeah patches are always major issues affecting most people first

then it's minor issues related to specific people like the G35 thing

You'll have to scroll waaaaaaaaay down. But I made the effort. Just for you. <3 ;)

The above is true; could break all sorts of things. Of course hard coding an key value like aspect ratio would make it a PAIN. but...I've seen experts (or so I would have believed) make mistakes of a similar nature before. So anything is possible. I do agree this first patch release is taking longer than we expected (or they expected I expect...)

It's not trivial thing to start supporting non-widescreen resolutions when the user interface is designed specifically for widescreen resolution. 4:3 support will most likely need new UI art and design ad it takes time.. and they got actual bugs to fix which takes priority.

Ah, thanks.

Too bad that it wasn't released with these. I am the only one of all my friends, that have a 16:9 monitor. They all have 16:10.

Well, i think 16:10 is fine to play with, isn't it? You lose some height, but an 22" 16:10 should still leave you with an ~20" 16:9 picture, or am I mistaken? AFAIK Assassin's Creed and/or AC2 did the same thing, among others.
4:3 and 5:4 is really messed up as there you lose huge proportions of the picture.

Just to make things clear: Of course, it's not what you'd wish for and of course it's better to have the full height available. But I wouldn't go as far as claiming it severe or even unplayable.
