AudreyWinter: Ummm.... no, no performance issues, the smells are the issue. And it's not fine when the pc runs without fault as long as it smells. The information you lacked here is that it's part of my health condition that I can't tolerate strong smells. Or any smells that linger for too long. But since I can't live without my pc and games, things like that inspire a lot of creativity... and frequent breakdowns...

But anyway, I think I finally found what I was searching for for months and can fix that, but the melting smell is new, gotta nip that in the bud at once! And hope that the PSU isn't too contaminated already to keep running. There's no switch, btw. European only production, I guess.
Oh. Yeah, I guess that could be a problem. I get that smell from this one at times and haven't figured it out, but I haven't really looked into it as it is running fine and the Temps are good. Anyway, if you get dust in there i the right spots and it gets hot, it can give off a smell. Another, thing new components can do it initially when they get hot, or at least the plastic ( which could also be toxic ), but I'm not aware of that occurring in computers. New cars, yes. I have heard of that before, but it generally involved stuff like perfume or cologne. The melting smell is probably not something actually melting, but a new thing getting warm and giving off the smell. You said something in an earlier post about checking cooling, which is probably a good idea. I wasn't trying to give you hard time about your stuff, as I don't do that. My intent is good, but sometimes doesn't come across that way on the keyboard. I think you said you had a front intake fan as well as a rear exhaust fan in the case. That is good if both fans are working as they should, because that would give you some really good air flow through there. If you have something to blow out the PSU with maybe that will help some as well. About the only thing I can think of that would contaminate the PSU is dust. I doubt the smaell will vling to anything but is generated by heat and once the heat is removed ( cooled down ) no more smell. Looks like you know what your looking for, it's just finding it that is the problem and keeping you from using the computer. I have a Laptop for a back up as well as another Desktop that is 5 years old and upgraded as far as the motherboard would let me. I'm noticing that smell from mine now again. Although it doesn't affect me, I'll probably go nuts trying to figure it out now. : ) Actually, I've been sniffing around and not sure, but in my case, I think it is coming from the monitor. Strange.

I filter my air as good as possible and clean inside regularly, because I know how dust can destroy parts. And of course, smell.
One time, the pc of a friend's son would not run anymore, I told her to bring it to me so I can have a look at it - I took one look at the PSU and told her he had to throw that one out and get a new one and keep it more clean, if he didn't want to burn down the house, lol.
And yes, I do have experience with that new electronics smell, too. The PSU was quite bad and the ASUS motherboard made me nauseous for three weeks. Another reason why I want to avoid new parts, if I can.
The melting smell was similar to the one I accidentally produced a few weeks back, when the cable of my headset fell into my tealight - just for reference. Problem is, my smelling threshold is way low and I smell literally one single molecule - mix two or three smells, which you have basically all the time, and it's like chinese water torture for me (too hard to convey to anyone).
I don't doubt that your intent is good and apprechiate your trying to help. :)
It's just that I'm not easy to be helped, sometimes. ;) Got to figure stuff out by myself most of the time, because only I know what I need removed.

You just gave me an idea, when you mentioned the headset incident. Check the wiring to may sure the insulation isn't burning somewhere on something hot ( bet you've already done that : ) ) . This what is I do over at the other forums when I'm not chasing Spammers & Trolls. A lot of satisfaction when you've sucessfully helped someone with a problem. In your case, this something of a very different and personal nature that is nearly impossible to convey to someone else as much as you may want to. I am impressed with your knowledge of these things and the ability you seem to have to work on them. You can avoid new parts, but you have to be careful buying used, as someone may be trying to get rid of junk. I posted on how to check a motherboard, but I suspect you probably already knew that too. : ) I can't say that I have noticed much from new stuff, but then again your sense of smell is much more sensitve than mine, obviously. I think you know what you are looking for and I hope you find it soon and get back in the game. Now that I understand the problem, I can imagine the frustration you must feel at times.

That thing is slow to load after starting the launcher. It may not seem like it is doing anything, but it is and I am running a core i7 960 w/ 6 gb DDR3 memory and an HD5770 Card.

same thing happened to me. Then I launched the game from "bin" folder. It worked. There is an .exe of the game, give it a try.

Once you click to start the game, it takes 40 secs before anything happens ( I timed it ).

No sound at all? Do you mean the Logitech bug? That's on Logitech, not CDPR. Otherwise, yes, your computer has issues.

I's actually a game bug that they said they were fixing and it's not exclusive to Logitech.
