Hope there are more people "independent" like you. Sometime, it is their system and configuration make things not working.
For example, if you using any sandboxing antivirus program such as Comodo, make sure the installer / launcher process are not isolated or partially limited. I have encountered this problem. My installer not working and nearly put all the blame on GoG while it is my Comodo Internet Security sandboxed the process.

Yep, the dangers of the Internet make it difficult to keep your MS Windows gaming box working and fast. While I like the Comodo Firewall (security looks good too), its increasingly hard to know friend from foe once a product needs to install core components or registry entries to work. You may like Avira as well. Less CPU load and fewer false positives I believe. (not to say Comodo is not good, its VERY good, love their firewall)

My answer to the plagues of the Internet is simple but not an option for everyone: I keep my MS Windows gaming box off the Internet. All my files are downloaded to a Linux File Server and scanned there by commercial security software that detects MS Windows malware/viruses, and then copy to the gaming box. It sounds paranoid but...my XP box remains blazing fast and cold boots in <=10 seconds. I keep a hard disk image too, just in case something manages to sneak in. Also keep lightweight client firewall/antivirus/anti-malware scanners on the MS Windows box just in case. So far, no incidents. Kinda like a console, except I can back it up/restore it entirely. ;-)

PS: you may like the Sunbelt Firewall if your current solutions bogs down your CPU: fairly robust, light on CPU usage.

Uh so Installed that patch from the gog (as the patcher claimed my game is up to date but it was not). The thing is I still get infinity loop with Troll dlc. No, I wont look through million of pages just to see if this is already common issue. So am I doing something wrong?

edit. brilliant. Now patcher says my installation is incomplete or invalid. Maybe I should reinstall the whole game 3rd time..

The Troll DLC is included in the 1.1 patch, so if you have the patch installed you're good to go, nevermind whatever it is you're getting on the launcher.

even if you don't want to read... you should read at least some of the topics about this....

delete troll dlc from cookedpc folder

try to install again.

you don't have to download any DLC since DLC downloading from the launcher is broken.

If you have a loop downloading something, close the launcher and try to run patcher.exe

if it's still not working you might have to delete some registrys using regedit

Check the readme.txt in the game folder.

Go to your game folder and mouse over the Witcher2.exe in the bin folder.

I have installed the patch, and the Troll DLC is present in the correct folder, however the launcher still claims it is downloading said DLC. I assume this can be ignored?

I removed registry entry 19. It stopped that loop. No idea how is my troll trouble dlc though as Im past flotsam already.

can't wait for next week then, I'll finally be able to play the game after what, 3 weeks? >_>

I broke down and posted my computer for sale, if I am lucky I can get something for it and then build me a new one.

I thought you were playing on Uber pre-patch? That doesn't sound like something you need to be replacing. :/

manually be sure all witcher 2 files are deleted from hdd
clean registry of all witcher 2 files
and gonna try installing again
Honesty i have never had so much trouble getting a game to install DLC, this Troll Trouble crap has been annoying since day 1.
Problem now is, i need it installed because it is in my saved games i have backed up.

And i dont want the patch, i just want my original GOG version installed with the Troll Trouble DLC installed, but then again , that is all ive wanted since laiunch day!

My last Witcher game purchase for sure, its not worth it.

I am, but it's something I've wanted to do and now is a decent time to do it.

On my rig @ Ultra (except Uber off and Motion Blur off (don't like it) I get average 45FPS in the hard hit areas, but in most places I average 55-65 FPS. Some indoor areas peak to 85 and a few of the graphic intensive outdoor areas drop to 35 FPS (but it is a pretty smooth FPS)

So it runs decent..but I am really anal...and I have been bored lately so thought building a new PC would be a fun hobby.

I'm pretty sure you can't go back to original game version and get Troll DLC. The launcher/DLC servers are jacked so you can't download Troll...

Not sure though. :\

I wouldn't totally condemn CDPR..yeah been a bit rocky with the patch stuff..but they are still worthy of praise. Maybe there will be some redemption.
