I noticed some slight stuttering after the patch. The trick for me was to disable vsync in the game settings, since apparently the INI file was overwritten. I only use vsync at the nvidia control panel, and after the patch reset my options, I had double vsync on. Try disabling it if you have it on at the driver level and see if it helps. It did for me.
Just a quick question..the stuttering ?

Ati AND Nvidia cards ?,or as it seems just Ati cards ?

could the patch be a fix for Nvidia and a bane for Ati ?
My pc has Ati 6970's and hers has a Nvidia GTX 470 and we're not experiencing stuttering on eithrer so im not so sure those that do is due to specific graphic cards.
Maybe the stutters have to do with the amount texture memory cuz the way the objects "pop in" they are definately loading on the fly.
But its just a guess.

No, I get stuttering that wasn't there before on a 9800 GTX+, using the retail version. The frame rate is improved, but in some places the camera jerks forward, despite it remaining above 30 FPS.
so that rules out the ati cat hotfix...

just spent all day with my mates system trying to find a fix for this stutter,i even dropped all my new gear into his rig to see if that helped and so far found nothing to solve it.

but ones thing for sure its definitley there, problem is which piece of hardware or driver is causing it ?

keep sending CDP those tech support tickets, every one will speed up the next fix

ps..if anyones thinking of rolling back ati drivers, dont bother,i rolled em all the way to cat 8 and still no joy, though i did find a better fps with cat 9 drvs.

The patch appears to be working OK for me in terms of performance and stability (not that I had any of those problems before anyway) but the loss of the analogue stick for the menus is mildly irritating especially as the D-pad cannot be used to read the bottom parts of the quest text in the Journal.

Not directly connected to this patch but why is it that even with Ultra settings and an LOD value of Far that small objects pop in close by and rocks change shape only a short distance away? Not a big deal admittedly but shouldn't LOD issues be less noticeable at maxed out settings?
Has anyone tried chaosapiant's solution ?

I'm at work but I know I had stuttering and I know that I have V-Sync on both my Nvidia control panel and ingame on. Can people test it today ?

Not an ideal solution, but I have had some luck with FPS Limiter and capping the frame rate to 30. It doesn't go away completely, but it's a lot more bearable.

Vsync on or off makes no difference, at least on my system.

mtdew332: And dark textures seem darker and bright textures like sun glare seem brighter.
So now i cannot seem to get the right gamma / brightness settings as before.
If i lower gamma to tone the sun down , then my characters cloths are almost a black blob.
Increase gamma to see detail in character armor and sun/sky is so bright its a blur.
Tried disabling bloom, didnt matter.
Can definitely confirm this. I wasn't actually sure if it was just my impression, it seems it wasn't.
Also I noticed the patch had reset my graphics settings to their low defaults, somewhat annoying when I'd already loaded the game. Of course, it would have been less of an issue had the Graphics Options been accessible from within the game itself like the first Witcher, the Enhanced Edition I played anyway?

Why are these options outside of the game anyway? It makes tweaking the settings a bit of a pain when you have to keep quitting and reloading to amend the settings.

Even if certain settings require a restart of the game to be applied if Codemasters can do it with their games (e.g. DiRT 2/3, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, GRID, etc.) then why can't CD Projekt?
Hey,

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this, but I'm getting an error trying to run the GOG patcher. I've tried running it with no antivirus/firewall etc. to no avail. I always get the same error: 'Error opening the launcher'. The launcher & game work just fine with no errors at all. Am I already magically patched to 1.1 and if I am, how could I tell?

You need to manually download the patch for this version from the website. You can find it in "My Account", click on "The Witcher 2" - patch 1.1.

Check out the readme.txt in the game folder.

No mention of 1.1 there. :-(

That is what I have tried; also ran the file [Gog_patcher] as an admin, nothing.

I can actually rebind my keys in the menu, wasn't that a part of the patch? Or is it something I haven't just noticed before.

In that case your game isn't patched

Try rebooting your pc and then running the patcher again.

About the rebinding thing, in 1.1 rebinding was expanded to allow mapping of cursor and numpad keys, but rebinding was there from the start.
