Well for what its worth, the patch has been completely fine for me. I'm on an i7 720QM 2x2gbRAM HD 5870 1gb

Haven't tried testing my FPS out just due to pure laziness but I feel like I might've gained some. Could be all in my head though.

Vitor121796: Why can I not install this on my GOG version? Used the manual version and it says its incompatible - the Patcher in the game says I'm up to date...

EDIT: Read the previous pages and now I don't want to install this patch if it breaks the analogue control method I've been enjoying on my 360 pad....
You have to remove your DLC or mods
I'm using the gog version and since the patch I've been having major stuttering.

Is there a way to uninstall the patch or do you have to reinstall the game?

ldonyo: This is the most fucked-up mess I have ever had the misfortune to try and use. You could not have made it more difficult for GOG purchasers had you tried to do so. What a fucking disaster.
Your profanity-laced hyperbole has captured my imagination and swayed me to your cause. To the guillotine!

The funniest thing about all this is I didn't remove crap. Zero problems. :p And yes, I had the DLC and quite a few mods installed. Heh.

Programs are fairly logical things, and I'm having a hard time imagining what could possibly be lurking in their code that causes so many people to have to do some of these workarounds.

Have to reinstall the game, unfortunately. There's no revert patch.

There's a comment on the community page that specifically says that this took so long because they had to test so many versions WITHOUT a controller.

So did they even bother plugging one in to see? Seems odds that they would specify that fact...
Well I just deleted all my saves, installed the mods I want..starting over. Will see how the patch performs. If it performs bad I will probably move on to another game for awhile..maybe even go buy LA Noire and just play that until I can upgrade my PC and/or more patches come out.

Unfortunately, at least with the retail version, reinstalling doesn't help, as the stupid thing auto-updates immediately to 1.1; there's no way around it as far as I can tell. If you cancel out before verification you can't play as you're missing the day one 1.0 patch (thank you, online verification for a product I bought in store!), and if you go through said verification process or bypass it and patch the game manually you end up with 1.1. I don't see why they don't just put the day one 1.0 patch up for download.

All I know is I'm beyond fed up with this crap, and doubt I'll buy another game from CDP. There's been very little communication on their part, not to mention the whole going back on their "We'll never put DRM in a game" statements, and of course, all the problems they've created with this "patch."

And meanwhile, the pirates are playing without these problems.

I don't think it autoupdates to 1.1.

People keep saying that..but when I reinstalled it did a patch but it wasn't 1.1

I know this because the DLC didn't work, until I manually ran the 1.1 patch, which it did allow me to install. Had it already been up to date it would have said so.

Also, I've been playing my GOG copy pretty flawless since release..so not sure it's time to bash CDRP to hell and back.

Although I agree with the lack of communication part.

Retail go here: http://en.thewitcher.com/patch/
Using the 1.1 patch and then trying to install/download the Polish Language pack/subtitles caused my game launcher to be stuck in a never ending loop of verifying/redownloading the Subtitle/Language Pack, how i fixed it was to uninstall the game and then remove the registry info for the witcher 2 every scrap since i didnt want to take any chances of having the launcher automatically start to try to redownload and end up in a loop with the language pack.
After that reinstalled and did the patch again but this time i am staying away from the language/subtitle packs and the free DLC listed in the forum here i dont want to have problems with this launcher again.
I suspect that the problems that are occurring have to do with the "security" mechanics included in the game, not securom but the fact it requires that you be logged in to download any addons etc.

Am I imagining things or does the game look significantly worse with this patch applied? It seems like pop-up was worse and textures are worse. I double-checked my settings were the same as I had them before.

Weird.
