Gvaz: No the detection is totally false.

It's reporting I only have 768mb of Vram when I have a 1GB 4890

It says I can only do medium, yet I can do ultra with these settings off at 35-55fps
aa disabled
vignette disabled (no fps change)
ssao disabled
ubersampling disabled
vsync disabled
dangling objects limit enabled

everything else is default.
Yeah, wait until you arrive at Chapter II Roache path near the end you need to battle in the middle of dwarf/elf city with so many effects, decals and character, Those auto-detect function maybe not so accurate but i can keep the game running at decent frame rate throughout the whole game.
I noticed that on my system:
X3 720 @ 3.2
8gb ddr2
1gb 4890
1920x1200
11.5b ati drivers

that ssao is a 24% fps hit. Not worth it IMO. AA is a 20% fps hit. Turning Dangling Objects limit to disabled (no limit) is a 2% fps hit. Using the ATI's adaptive AA set to quality doesn't really do anything. Using ATI's AFx16 setting, is a 12% fps hit.

Whatever happened to 16:10 support? I still have these black bars! So setting it to 1920x1080, no fps difference.

:\

I'm testing it in chapter 2 actually because when I beat the game that's where I noticed the biggest fps hit.

So if 1.1 is installed, is there any way to get back to 1.0? Because as I understand it, if you reinstall the game, it now automatically updates to 1.1, which is of course broken if you want to use a controller.

Stormy2021x: You probably have a low system. I'm getting high detection on my GTX 260.
No, it's screwed up.

I have a factory OC 4890, and I'm getting low.
I suspect all the problem people got after patching is due to installing incorrect patch for their game version. there's a different patch version for every different version of The WItcher 2. Even the GoG version have their own distinct patch. Double check if your patch is the correct one.

I dont mean to offend, but alot of people are gonna type "witcher 2 1.1 patch" into google and download the first link they get, which mostly works for other games, but not in this case. I have the GoG version and installed the GoG patch, everthing works as supposed to, DoF is still fine and framerate doesnt drops

That's right, blame the consumer! It's all our fault! We're too stupid to read directions!

Or, just maybe CDP screwed up. Just a thought.

mornegroth: Currently downloading the bigass Steam update. In the meantime I wanted to give the changelog a look but I couldn't find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Freewind: the change log people are here !

if you are concerned with widescreen => sorry no change.

if you are concerned with re-mapping keys => yes there is a change for good.

if you are pissed off because of random crashed => give it sometime to know for sure.

if you expect performance improvement => you have only 5% improvement which you cant not feel it.

if you still dont see the extra link to GOG after defeating the french monk in dice game => well I dont see it too.

I am reloading to re-play "Blood curse" the rite way, hopefully seeing that there is a fix
Thanks for the reply. Well, the only thing I found close enough to a changelog was on Steam:
- Added Troll Trouble DLC
- Fixed DLC download issues
- Fixed Module updates
- Fixed various game crashes
- Expanded Movement Key Mapping includes arrow keys & Number pad
- Fixed NVidia 3D Vision Surround issues
- Improved auto-detect to improve game efficiency
- Fixed bug preventing the completely of the quest "Blood Curse"

Mixed results for me with the patch on my system.

C2D E8400 3ghz
9800 GTX+
3gb RAM
Retail copy

According to FRAPS, performance is improved by 5 to 15 FPS, but I now get a rather horrible microstuttering effect in certain areas in the forest around Flotsam. It's alleviated somewhat by lowering the resolution, but not completely.

I've no idea what's causing it, I've changed my settings back to those pre-patch. It doesn't appear to be related to streaming models or textures, since it's not working the hard drive at the time.

maybe, maybe not, but i'm willing to bet literal money there's people who got the wrong patch. The patching system isnt in a very good state right now, I know i almost downloaded the wrong version this morning.

I can speak for GoG version: it patches to day 1 patch, but not to 1.1.
I remember what an uproar it was, because people wanted to not have to use the launcher to install patches, now here's the standalone patch.

My version (Game downloads - basically D2D), upon installation when it goes to do the authentication it downloads the latest 1.1 patch, i wanted to revert due to DOF not working properly for me and was gutted that it auto installed the patch.

I have the North American retail version, and I assume based on the following it goes directly to 1.1 upon reinstallation: (from http://en.thewitcher.com/patch/)

"2. If you are installing the game for the first time or re-installing it, the game will automatically patch online to version 1.1 during installation."

Seems pretty clear. What I want to know is if there's somewhere we can download the day one patch after reinstalling, as my game is basically unplayable at the moment due to the controller issue. If not, they should make that available to download without the launcher as well.
i5-760, Evga 580 GTX SC, 4GB of Ram, Windows 7 64-bit.

Prior to the patch my game was fine. Ran at 60FPS a large majority of the time with everything on max except uber and SSAO.

After patching it the performance is mostly the same, however my LOD is complete messed up. Tried using different presets, deleting my user.ini to get a fresh start, nothing helps. I did some quick fraps videos... basically it's a lot of horrible pop-in that wasn't present before the patch.

Notice the plant... doesn't even change.. just kind of flickers.

Same deal with the rocks.

And this just looks horrible.

Any way I can make sure the devs at least hear about this issue?
So.... why is GoG patch 9Mb only? Hard to believe that the troll trouble would be squeezed in there, regardless of what the news says.
It's compressed.
