wow. why dont you go fuck yourself. im not asking for an easier game i am asking for a difficulty that is in the middle of what is now normal and easy. if you like the game as it is good for you but some people dont and if things get changed play you can still play on whatever challenge suits you best. Nobody here is blaming the game for the difficulty. Saying that the games normal mode is to challenging only means that the people who feel that way are having problems with it. Me being one of those people I am not blaming the game for my own personal preferences and asking for an adjustment in regards to balancing makes the game more accessible in a good way. Why dont you take your trolling to bsn or epic forums i am sure you will be more welcome there. You can't please everyone, and making the game more accessible for some makes it unbearably easy for others. It's a balancing act, and it's nice to finally have a legitimately difficult game for once, hence my dissenting opinion. There are plenty of other games that have an easier difficulty curve that you could play, whereas there are only three or four modern games out there that are actually difficult. It'd be a shame to lose one of those few games by making normal easier, especially when it wouldn't be for the first time.

If normal becomes to easy because of balancing play on hard instead. I have yet to see someone complain about how the hardest difficulty is to challenging. Making normal easier does not mean making hard easier. And in some ways the combat does feel a bit below standard. The story is the main reason most people play rgs's in the first place having great combat is just a bonus. If the witcher was to improve combat i dont think normal would be as much of a challenge but however i do appreciate you posting something that is not a direct insult to people who dont have the same opinions as you.

That could be turned back around to "If normal is too difficult given the current balance, play on easy instead." You may find it laughable, but some find hard too intimidating to switch to. I've personally completed something like 2-3 playthroughs on normal compared to only one on dark, so making normal easier would directly affect both me and those who want to be challenged without the punishment of higher difficulties.

Were they to make easy more difficult, that would probably be a good middle ground for everyone. Gluttons for punishment like me wouldn't lose anything, and those who want a challenge between easy and normal would get it.

Anyway, didn't mean to offend. I just have an aversion to candy-coating that can come across harsh sometimes.

Personally, I like The Witcher 2 as it was made, I don't want a Diablo style "hit button to chug heal" type thing, I prefer preparing for combat before going in.

Got to remember, Geralt is stronger, faster and more resilient than a normal person but he's still a person, it would be silly if he could charge into the middle of a gang of 20 Nekkers all hitting him, him taking minimal damage while lopping each of their heads off.

Frankly, I've finished the game multiple times on Normal and found it too easy, I'm playing on Hard now and so far...as long as I don't get surrounded or too mobbed...it's too easy as well.

Probably going to bite the bullet and move on to Dark...wish me luck.

Actually there is an impossible boss early on in the game. If your PC is slightly bellow specs and the QTE lags so much you cannot complete it.

That said, both The Witcher games get much easier as you progress. TW1 was riddiculously easy, even on Hard. TW Normal can be quite hardcore at first (I had to put an early boss on easy to continue) but once you learn the game it becomes quite OK.
Assuming you are doing a decent build, do some exploring and sidequests and learn how to use most of your tools (I've completed Normal three times, without traps or throwing knives, next I'll try hard with an Alchemical build)

I think that tatann made some extremely valid comments, if I were to add anything it would be return of the pause. I know that your foes won't pause in a real fight, but neither will the phone or doorbell ring.

But I have a question. My quen sign keeps disappearing. It goes 38, 37, 00. Two seconds of quen which dies the moment I am hit is of no use to me. I can find no explanations in manuals or the forums. Any comments please.

As a background note, I have very poor hand/eye coordination, I have to look at the keyboard to check which key I am pressing and my reflexes are very slow. I find the game challenging on easy and I am getting nowhere on normal. But everybody says persevere so I am, but the quen is a vital part of my strategy. Please help me get it back.

This is your explanation right there. Quen absorbs damage, but withers away when it does. You can upgrade it however with experience. Also remember that Vigour does not regenerate while you have Quen on, and you will do less damage in combat when exhausting yourself (= if your Vigour is below 100%)
