IScorchI: There are those of us who instead of complaining about the game supposedly being consolized are instead playing the game and enjoying the heck out of it.
The two are not mutually exclusive, you can be enjoy the game and yet don't like, maybe even strongly, some part of it. Personally I only recently started playing it (had to finish TW1 first) and until now I enjoy it a lot but still there are part of it, especially the interface, that makes me cringe and want to scream.

wormholewizards: Yea, it is discussion about making the game better. But this is not the right thread.
cloud8521: the other threads are in the right ... threads.... what the hell are you talking about You can voice your complaints there, let this thread (The Silent Majority) reserved for people that enjoy and satisfied with the game. It is more easy to forward your complaint if you could lodge and discuss your complaint in one or systematic place.

Also cudos to the makers from me! DA2 was a real disappointment.
The minor disappointments at the start of this game only point out it's superiority and an eagerness to get into it, I fully agree!!!

swordsandroses: But they've made big promises, and now only heavy patching may save them from embarrassment.
I firmly believe they've delivered 99.999% on everything promised. Waiting a week or so for a tweak patch is nothing. :)
Unless you've never played a PC title before?.. I have yet to play a new release which didn't require some post-launch attention. Ever.
if you want a genuine shoddy-beta release, you'd earn good coin betting on Jowood.

What bothers me is that their goal, so painfully obvious, was to be better than Dragon Age 2. That's it.
And that is making this game old school? Quality?
Banging my nuts together with 2 large stones beats Dragon Age 2, ok?
Their goal should have been to outdo The Witcher 1.
Instead, their goal is to make an average multiplatform rpg, relying on first game's fame and marketing, that will bring them loads of cash.

Speaking in the name of the "silent majority" is utter demagogy. It makes me remember the old times in my country when everyone was behind the communist party and the supreme leader all the way. Those having different opinions were enemies of the people. Blah!

The Witcher 2 has definitely been changed to take the console version into account. From the Quciktime Events to the way the interface is laid out and lots of other things.
All that worries me is if this is another trend, is the Witcher 3 going to be even more console orientated? Is the Witcher 4 going to come out on console and PC at the same time, heavily streamlined on PC? Is the Witcher 5 going to be console first then PC 6 months later? Finally is the Witcher 7 going to be console only?
Yes, the Witcher 2 has small changes, but it's what these changes show for future intent that worry me more.

Bah, the whining over "consolification" is annoying.
They tried something with the UI. And by they I of course mean the people that just put out their second game. SECOND GAME. Know what Blizzard did as their second game? BATTLE CHESS. They hadn't exactly "found their voice" yet. So, personally, I find CDP going in different directions, UI and gameplay-wise, a good sign. Stagnation isn't how game development flourishes.
I just finished the game yesterday (on hard! go me!) and retrospectively I can say it worked really well. Know how I can say that? Because I was able to play through the game and didn't have any hiccups. It took me half an hour to get used to and that was that.
Now, the fact that I played it with KB+Mouse and it worked great, that is one thing. That I was able to plug in a controller and play from the couch and I wasn't in any way hindered in enjoying the game, that is a god damn feat. Sorry if your association with RPG is M+KB, but control schemes do not a game make.
What is the problem, anyway? Know what a developer's goal is? To blow away as many people as possible with your game. And that's achievable how? By making it accessible to as many as possible. Allowing people to use a controller is brilliant. Willingness to port it to a console is, too.
And a publisher's goal is, well, the same. Although the priority for them is less of an artistic but more of a monetary one. And that's achieved by also making the game accessible.
This is kind of what you need to understand. While it may make you all warm and fuzzy to be part of the PC MASTER RACE, sorry, you're the vocal minority. And are you ever vocal..
Any gamer not hindered by the childish mindset of wanting to belong to some camp and any developers worth their salt will see a game, wonder what input device will best help people move through their world, and be all the happier the more people they can reach.
"Do they get it" and "Can they manage it" are two relevant questions the people responsible for the UI/controls should ask. Anything else is personal preference.
You just got an AAA PC exclusive. It's been a while. Let it go, stop overhyping minor subjective flaws and play your purchased game instead.

RageGT: Amazing. The most devoted Bioware fan wrote this for us at TW2 thread in Social Bioware Forums: (And she was one that defended DA2 when most of us there said that Origins put DA2 to shame - we converted her to be a Witcherette!!!)
There is/was plenty of gripes about DA2 and deservedly so IMO. Any game that doesn't get better in sequels only gets worse even if they buy great reviews. ;) xxxxx wrote...
So.....I finished Act III just now.
I am UTTERLY blown away. I detest hyperbole....but this is the VERY best RPG I have EVER played. And the Replay value (With imports to add sweetness) is GIGANTIC. Tomorrow I'll import my Shani/Pro non human save and start again. I am sure I missed a lot as well. Nothing like ten more playthroughs to gather all the details.... If anyone were to ask me about the perfect RPG...I'd not name the BG Series, not the M&M Series, not Morrowind, not DAII .....but TW2.
Sorry about the fangirling. I just had to share. {smilie}{smilie}{smilie}
RageGT: The Gothics, TW1, DA:O and now TW2 are games that I'll be playing for as long as I can move my hands and have my wits. And TW2 is simply the best ever, atm. Until perhaps CDPR delivers something better... not an easy task! So.....I finished Act III just now.

Diablo 1 and 2 including expansion packs was/is the BOMB. Blizzard decided letting the meat that made them hang on for over 10 years all the while saying they were working on Diablo 3 and instead releasing 'other' games. Pffft....
I shifted loyalties to CDPR after playing TW1 so many times I lost track. TW2 has gotten better and dramatically so IMO. Simply beautiful.
Now I am having such a good time with TW2 that I don't mind getting killed in a fistfight with some skinny guy. Time to cut my fingernails so I am better able to work keyboard magic. LOL
Peace out.

I'll be the first to admit that the visuals, presentation, atmosphere and story are all top notch. I really was impressed by them.
But if I want that, I can also watch a movie.
The most important part, the gameplay, is not that great imo.
Sorry for everyone who is blindly in love with this game, but I realy have played better. Alot better actually.
And this is in no small part thanks to the controls, interface, and combat mechanics. (Not even to speak of the duration)
And I don't blame the consoles for that. Hell I don't even blame the devs for that.
In most cases it's the publishers.
Why spend extra time and effort (read: money) into designing a completely seperate UI and control set for the pc and consoles when you can do it like this, right?
Alot of players, maybe even the majority, will swallow it anyway. Easy money.
It has become the standard procedure for game development and distribution.
I am not sorry I bought the game, because I really support CDP's attitude towards game distribution (DRM free, lots of extra's, all at the price of a normal game or even cheaper).
I just hope that in the future, a few publishers will rise again that treat the pc market with some more respect.
I think alot of younger gamers don't even know how good a game can be (or how much better) when it is solely developed for one system, because they started gaming after the multi-platform age kicked in and don't know any better. Such a pity.

While I've not played the game yet due being unable to bind keys how I'd like them, from others impressions it is a very well made game. But to accept it blindly and not acknowledge the short comings is just naive and leads to complacency. We all know what that does to game devs (EA/Activision).
I'm occupying myself with the free game GOG has given me while I wait for a patch. Thank you GOG and CD Project for your great efforts.
