I'm pissed over the execution of Roche's men. Death versus a rape, especially torturous one? Yeah, death is a little worse than rape, considering you're dead and all, and live if you've been raped.

I wish there wasn't so much emphasis on rape as opposed the executions.

People have already mentioned this, but I'm also of the opinion that there's no conspiracy, and she's not exactly lying or anything - she lets Geralt and Roche know that Henselt violated her, but Geralt comment is in regards to Dethmold, and why he chose to let her go so easily. Dethmold is a scheming bastard, who probably let her go so that she could tell Roche what happened, in order to further enrage the man. It is never made obvious (which is a good thing), but Dethmold most likely plotted against Henselt in one way or another, and by provoking Roche as much as possible by torturing and executing his entire unit, leaving Ves alive to tell the tale personally, he was hoping that this would end with Henselt's own demise. I never gave it much thought the first time I played, and I don't think I ever will. :)

I don't intend to debate this, but I will offer my opinion that sometimes there are things so bad that continued life is worse than death could ever be. You don't have to live with death, as ridiculous as that sounds.

Yeah, but I imagine being the victim of rape to be even worse. At least Schiavo was in a vegetative state. Rape victims have to live with that attack and all of the subsequent complex emotions dwelling in their conscious minds. Anyway, just want to reiterate for clarity that I'm not trying to debate this. Just offering up my opinion, for what it's worth :)
