mippoh: I can understand one would feel like that, but pc gamer are use to being held back by consoles. meaning that games are designed to run very good on a console, then later adapted to run a pc. finally, 3-4 years later this is a game that even though the engine works with consoles isnt crippled by it. so anyone that are used to playing on console ports might have a problem with this game because it uses more power than usual
yeah, I am used to play on PS3 rather than on PC so thats why I havent invested on better graphic card (that and lack of knowledge about them back there :P)... too bad it wasnt released on consoles, even though it feels like it was developed for them...

you cant invest in a new card, you have to get either a desktop or buy a hole new laptop to get a better card.

hm, I want to play it smoothly so hard that I am gonna take my birthday money and buy new card, would that solve the problems?

...also, how do I find out if my video memory is shared?

and do you have any suggestion for one under 200e?
PS: I heard not every card can be installed to laptop, so take in mind it should be able to do so :P

I don't know of anyway to upgrade a video card in a laptop. You're likely going to need a new system completely, laptop or otherwise.

As has been said, you can't just remove and upgrade any old vid card in laptops. Only very few can be upgraded at all, and eve those are ultra-specific in terms of what you can upgrade them to. Frankly, unless you spend a cartload of money on an uber-lappy, you're looking at a new desktop PC in the region of 500e or more, to get the kind of performance you're used to seeing on your PS3.

I'm on a quad core 2.33 GHZ and an ATI 4670. The absolute max I can get out of the game on low-ish settings is 30-40 fps. So I play on low settings. :(

That's the way it is till I upgrade. Sorry OP, but I think you're in the same boat.

Upgrading video cards in a laptop is not something I would even begin to attempt to talk someone through, as there are all sorts of limitations based on any specific laptop. It's not like upgrading parts in a desktop, which is why I always shake my head at anyone who uses a laptop for serious PC gaming.

I think you're just out of luck. Read the minimum requirements next time.

Well, just so you know, working on computer is what I do for a living. And if someone brought me a laptop and asked me to change their video card, i'd laugh at them. No offense, i'm not saying it's impossible, i'm just saying it's not worth the trouble even if it IS possible.

Well, two things spring to mind: 1. the article is almost 3 years old and 2. it actually says i the title that it is akin to open heart surgery.

Again, i'm not saying it's impossible, but i'd never do it.

The physical act of replacing the card is not an issue. It's the severe limitations in what card you can use, availability of said cards, any flashing you may have to do, etc, etc.

At this point, I'm just going to assume no matter how often that is hammered into you in this thread, it's pointless. :p

There have been docking stations and other peripherals designed to accept a video card. They're fairly rare and you haven't provided nearly enough information to check whether it's even possible for your present setup.
