Thankfully, this nice little skill is PRICELESS. Anyone having a hard time getting those mutagens they need? Want certain ones, or certain numbers of certain ones, excluding the elusive MADNESS (which is only random drop)? Then put two point in this as soon as you can afford, gather a ton of alchemical materials, and when it is you want the mutagens for input (preferably after having put already 2/2 to impregnation), save your game, and begin creating things with alchemy.

With a few tries you can end up with all sorts of mutagens, especially GREATER ones, of ALL types, and even 2-3 in number to EACH one! For me, the most rewarding crafting was that of "Blade Oil" and some few in number, generic bombs. This still works in the final version. Feels like a cheat, too. If you don't get whatever you want, or in the quantity you desire, you can always load and retry.

After you insert your mutagens, you can always keep in mind visiting the operator, to repick your skills, and this time around, you need NO points in either Side Effects or Impregnation. But you have to open the exact same skills you previously mutated.
