So after reaching the somewhat depressing ending of the game, I restarted but I can't use my gear from the first playthrough?
Nope, you are starting a new game. Keep your saves though, they are planning on expansion pack, so you'll need those then.
You can import from TW1, but there isn't really a new game+ option. Modders might create one, or perhaps CDPR will patch it in later. I wouldn't want it, frankly, but that's just me.
A bit of a shame considering you only get impressive armor and weapons on the very last chapter, which doesn't last long. Oh well..
Lol often folks claim they do not what consolized games and then others want newgame+ (something I mostly see in console games)

I never got why folks would want to rush through a game with ubergear, even the DLC jackets in my book are nothing more than blatant cheats (if not playing on hardest setting)!

And try to explain IC'ly how could Geralt get all that stuff which he not even knows how to craft/brew at the point where the game begins?

Also have you thought more about a newgame+ option? In Witcher2 enemies do not scale! *hints at balance*

Typically, new game + options raise the difficulty. So all monsters would be rescaled to what the developers thought would be challenging for a player with the best gear and a high level.
When in the game exactly do you get the the DLC game gear?

New Game + is nothing new for PC gaming. Generally Action RPGs like Diablo, Titans Quest have New Game+. Console gaming got New Game + idea from PC gaming.

What PC game did 'Chrono Trigger' rip it's 'New Game+' idea from?

That's my main complaint about TW1 as well. The whole game with the same look and only near the end we get the awesome Raven's armor, which is not that awesome in the sequel though... but still looks good! (not as much as in TW1 too)

i'm sorry but my Geralt in TW1 already knows all those stuff.
and he already knows all the crap that i am suppose to read from books (already read them in TW1)
the devs should just have scaled the game since the Geralt i played was already an Uber-Witcher by the end of TW1 but he became a novice again in TW2.
and the equipment that are imported shouldn't have been nerfed.
Arondlight was suppose to be a special sword not some crappy thing that can be dumped by the end of the first chapter.
same deal with the Raven Armor

But not everyone plays a game for the same exact reasons. Some are in for the gameplay, some are in for the story, some are in in the hope to get their asses kicked a lot, some are in just for the fun and some are in for a bit of everything...

If all the gamers wanted the same things it would be a win-win situation for developers. As it is if developers only focused on a special type of gamers they would end up hitting the same small part of the whole gamer population. Why do you think difficulty levels were invented? It's because not all gamers want to have their asses handed to them every few seconds.

Like difficulty levels New game+ when correctly implemented is just a feature that satisfy a part of the gamer population without really hampering the others. You want it you pick it. You don't want it, you start a new normal game... Simple as that. Furthermore we're talking about a single player game here so the way people play it ( hard or easy, , game+ or not, cheats or not) is not even a factor. If some people ruin their game it only affects them (as long as they don't start complaining about it).

The only problem with New game+ as far as RPG are concerned is that most of the good stuff is won doing quests so starting a new game with all the good stuff kinda defeat the purpose of some quests. But that aside it's all a matter of choice and tastes.

Chrono Trigger coined the term, but they got the idea from Muds, some Muds had Replay Mode (Chrono Trigger called it New Game +), others had Remorting.
are you people actually pc gamers or just a bunch of console retards who own pcs?

one word: mods.

i've already made mods modifying armor, giving him better armor at the beginning and other neat things.

Not all PC gamers are modders.
