Two questions for you fine folks.

Is it possible to change the amulet key from the default click of the left analog stick to the back button instead? I find myself accidentally pressing it in the heat of battle and since you can't move and use the amulet at the same time Geralt will just stop and stand there for a second before using the amulet, leaving me vulnerable to attack - really annoying, because I'll often stop and do it inadvertently in the middle of a boss fight or something and end up dying because of it.

Also, this may not be present in 1.2 anymore, but I was having issues with randomly losing almost all control of Geralt in 1.0 and 1.1 - it seems to happen after throwing a bomb, usually - all I can really do when that happens is run around.. can't roll, can't attack.. can just run around in circles hoping to god it comes back - this makes me really, really wary to do my Insane run.. already had an issue during the temple sequence in the prologue where I had to just run around in circles for a few minutes cursing before control was suddenly and miracuously restored. Turning the controller on&off and switching to Keyboard and then back to the gamepad in the controls menu do nothing.
1) Not the back button, that's not mappable atm, I don't think.

2) Probably just general conrol issues, it seems to be displaying quite a few quirks, it's not fully sorted atm.... Pre-patches worked flawlessly for me (notwithstanding the overly sensetive menu issues :/).

Really? I was almost certain I read that somebody was using it for a quicksave button.. maybe not.

I'd settle for the right analog stick instead, I suppose, but I can see it posing the same problem :\.

The gamepad remapper is on the option page of the launcher.. so try a few and see if any suit.

I know, but the gamepad controls don't appear to be remappable - everything is greyed out.

Hmmm... then I'd have to say that there was something wrong then, only the directional movement of the left analogue stick should be greyed out.

Maybe unplug it, or reboot or maybe reinstall any drivers you have for it... it's possible that's where your movement problems stem from too.
I do not use a controller, although I have one. I put it away once I got a Wolf King Warrior. The controls are grayed out until I plug in my controller, then I can remap all but the movement. Why not change it with the right analog button which now activates the circles of power? You open the appropriate keyboard ini file you selected in the Documents\Witcher 2\config folder (mine is Input_QWERTY,\.ini) and modify 2 lines.
IK_Pad_LeftThumb=(Gamekey=GI_Medallion,Value=1.000000)
IK_Pad_RightThumb=(Gamekey=GI_CircleOfPower,Value=1.000000)
You can definitely remap controls in the Witcher 2 by going to options. Unfortunately however if you map things like Attack to the triggers, then you have to use the triggers to pick up loot and open doors as well. Changing the controls can make quick time events a bit harder too if you're not used to it.

You can remap the back button ... tho you cant do it through the options tab in the launcher... you would have to make changes in the user.ini file in the witcher folder in documents folder (folder which also has save games) go into the config folder and open user.ini ... look for this line

IK_Pad_Back_Select=(GameKey="GI_Exit",Value=1)

change it to

IK_Pad_Back_Select=(Gamekey=GI_Medallion,Value=1.000000)

and that will do it
Is it possible to remove a button (like down d-pad for sheathing sword) so I can map the button to the keyboard with Xpadder?

My Xpadder controller isn't responding either. Is your problem like the one in this video?
