I know the date is not confirmed yet, but I've seen some polish retailers mentioning a mid-november release for the port. If this is true it could lead to lower sales, after all we know Skyrim has a 11/11 date.
Now no matter what anyone's feelings towards Skyrim are, it's inevitable that it'll sell, and someone looking for a fantasy RPG might not want to buy 2 games at the same time.

I don't know if this date will hold, if it's a publisher imposition or whatever other reason, but I'd probably want to maximize profits on my console debut. Also getting bigger numbers might help with future endeavors in the console front.

Not just skyrim, Uncharted, battelfield, COD, Dark Souls. TW2 is betetr then all of them except MAYVE skyrim, but not everyone will have money to buy all and wil have to pick 1 or 2.

Yeah, I would think an October release would be better, or even September. If they can't get it done by then maybe delay to next year. Avoid Skyrim as much as possible.
Going up against Skyrim is suicide, no matter how good the game is.
The Witcher 1 was swallowed whole by a late fall release. It also kinda came out of nowhere. Holiday releases are very risky. Good thing is CDPRED is beholden mostly to themselves so if it turns into a sleeper hit they'll still make their money. Just not as much.

it may be good for PC, might scare CDPR back to us :P (just kidding, I wish them luck on their venture)
I have a feeling that it's even good... People will play Skyrim and a Witcher 2 and will realize that Skyrim is a huge overhyped failure. :) Do you think Bethesda has some creativity left? I don't think so. Bethesda lost its creativity shortly after Morrowind. Since then they released 2 most boring RPGs I ever played: Oblivion and Fallout 3. I want Skyrim to be good but so far there is no reason to believe that it will be any different than Oblivion.

Yup, it is.

The Elder Scrolls has two generations of gamers and almost two decades worth of fans. It just doesn't compare.

I actually liked Oblivion and Fallout 3. Opinions vary.

I'm sure CDPR knows about Skyrim ;)
Clicked on it expecting an "omg why are you proting it???" post...but I'm sure that they know about Skyrim and I'm sure Mass Effect 3 will probably release around then too. But its not the first time games in a similar genre have been released close together, nor will it be the last. I'm sure BF3 and MW3 will release at the same time. If both games are good, people will buy them. Its like saying that WB shouldn't release a Harry Potter movie at the same time that a Lord of the Rings movie released, but that happened anyway and of course both went on to be successful.
November is gonna be pure epic. Non stop gamming!!! :D

Yeah, it's a Beth game. Even if it's shit (oblivion, fallout 3) it will still sell like hotcakes because of prior expectations.
Doesn't MW3 and Battlfield 3 release 11/18? Because if they do, how epic would it be to have on

11/11: RPG fight to the death: Skyrim vs The Witcher

11/18: Cod vs Battlfield: Fight of a lifetime
MW3 will be another MW2. Activition don't change the engine, just add a new singleplayer story, new guns, new maps. I like blck ops and mw2, but bf3 will be defintly be my first buy.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would buy MW3 of BF3. But there are some nuts in this world. I mean, no dedicated servers. Seriously? After the backlash they got with MW2, and they STILL refuse to have them. That is the definition of not listening to your customers.
