Here is my problem, if I reboot of my computer, Witcher2 launches fine with no issues.

If it has not been rebooted for a couple of days (just going into sleep mode), the launcher runs, I click on Launch Game, and then it just sits there at the medallion logo and never does anything. I have to reboot again.

Now this might seem minor, but often I will just play something else because I cant be bothered to reboot, although I do have an SSD drive.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Specs:
Intel i3 2100
8GB RAM
ATI 5770 1GB
Win7 x64
Is it patched to 1.2?

There's some funky stuff going with the launcher alright. But luckily witcher.exe works fine (just bypass the launcher), so I would suggest creating a shortcut to witcher.exe on your desktop and just run it instead of the launcher.
And don't forget that the hibernate function can be flaky as well. I've always found it to be good practice to turn off the PC / Laptop at night and restart in the morning. But, whatever works for you.
i'm on vista 64bit sp2 ; the sleep mode has never worked as its suposed to. i monkeyed around with it a few times ,now i just dont use it

Yes I am on 1.2, actually got it on steam. I'll try the manual shortcut...I was just launching via steam, which then starts the launcher, which then launches the game. Easier to just click the shortcut!
You need to be careful with sleep mode as on a lot of systems it doesn't "wake" certain drivers and processes.

That's why you can't run the game until you reboot.

Sleep has never worked for most people since it's inception.

It relies on your hardware, drivers and bios to work correctly.

Really, sleep has some issues but on Windows certified hardware it should be fine. I don't have any issues with sleep on this motherboard, we deploy thousands of machines for users at work with no issues with sleep.

Aside from this, creating a shortcut did not work. I'll wait for 1.3 patch to come onto steam (slow as usual) and see if that helps.

Thanks
I think some AV programs (like Norton) will treat the patched (1.3) .exe files as viruses including Launcher.exe and quarantine them. I'd check your AV.

That's the theory, but not in practise.

It relies on hardware, drivers/services and your bios.

All it takes is for one incorrectly coded or configured to stop it from working.

EG: A lot of soundcards have problems resuming from sleep etc.

Check Google and you'll see how many people have problems with it.
