What's the problem with widescreen? I use a 16:10 ratio screen, and since I'd picked an appropriate 16:10 ratio in the game's config, I saw no "black bars".

I have a 16:9 monitor 1080p, and have no issues either.

Thats odd, most of us running in 16:10 have black bars.

On one of my pcs using 1920x1200 i have the black bars.
On the other using 1080p there are no black bars.

No big deal breaker for me, i prefer the higher resolution and the black bars dont bother me at all.

He probably has streched screen meaning everyone in his witcher 2 game had a diet ^^; That is because the game is made for 16:9 screens so you wont get any black bar at those resolutions.

I guess i should have at least mentioned, i have two pcs here side by side so i can actually compare 1080p vs 1920x1200.
And i can tell you 100% for sure the letterboxing for 1920x1200 does not cut off any of the gameplay screen, you still get the same full view as 1080p, its just letterboxed to keep the aspect ratio.

I figured i'd post that for those who may feel that being letterboxed is cutting off some of their gameplay screen. (its not)

Of course there are still those who hate black bars regardless, so these fixes will make them happy.
But in the meantime, dont worry 16:10 users your screen is not being cut off, you arent missing anything view-wise in any direction.

BTW: No that fix doesnt work on my GOG version either, seems to work only on the steam version at the moment.

LOL, i didnt notice on my first run of the game, but now I do. its annoying!

I hope they fix this in next patch or something!

God I wish this worked for the gog version! I emailed them in hopes they will get it to work for it.

Well, apparently, the guy behind have made support for the GOG version. Redownload the tool and look in the witcher 2 pulldown menu. Sadly though, I can't get it to work with the GOG files on my cd version :-(

Work well with GOG files on my retail version. Try to run it as administrator.

If all he did is hack the viewport to be larger then you will likely see some bugs and visual flaws. It's not as simple as just flicking a switch, that's why it wasn't done before release when the complaints started.

Maybe it somehow works perfectly though, I wouldn't know and am not going to bother with it.

In order to work You must start TW2 directly via witcher2.exe, not via launcher.

Doesn't really prove anything one way or the other... the visual bugs and such would not appear all the time or even most of the time.

For example one of the few games that had a really low FOV that bothered me was Turok, the 2008 game. There is an FOV hack that lets you increase the field of view, but after playing for a while with the hack applied I noticed that distant textures did not appear right, for example walls popping in out of nowhere. I also noticed during cutscenes that sometimes a character's legs were down in the ground, or that a character was walking without moving his legs because originally they were under camera.

These kinds of little things are what I would look out for in The Witcher 2, especially in cutscenes. Maybe it's fine, maybe it isn't.
