Please help me.

I recently bought The Witcher 2 from gamers gate. I have reached the point in the game where I am to fight the kayran. I have spent hours and hours and hours on this. I know you need to chop the tentacles. I cannot do it...plain and simple. please help me. I have had to resort to utilising "god mode" That did not work. Despite finding a page full of trainers none of them worked. please help me.. Does anyone have a saved game which is right after defeating the kayran. I feel like I just (in a way) shredded fifty dollars in the shredder. I just cannot complete this...please help me

You have to use your Yrden sign to trap the tentacles, only then can you attack them and cut them off. Sile tells you to do this, but it can be easily missed as she says this after the fight starts. Just go side to side (you can not trap the large tentacles in the middle) and throw down a Yrden near a tentacle with the glowing bulb, it will move to slap you and that is your que to dodge out of the way. it will get stuck on the ground, then cut it off. Repeat this 3 times.

There a bunch of threads on here where people upload their save games and other people get past the Kayran for them. If you upload your save I'll get past it for you, or you could find one of those threads and use one of their saves (I keep most of the saves I post up, just in case).

To chop the tentacles, be sure you're not overencumbered, wait for the tentacle to move up (which means it's about to attack), then dodge with a double key-press (or direction key and space bar). Once you see where it lands, move under it when it goes back up and put a Yrden sign down to trap it (standing there until it goes up to attack to be sure that it lands on the Yrden sign). Be sure that you're doing this with tentacles that have the orange glowy thing on them, though. Only those tentacles that have glowing orange bulbs on them can be trapped.

In general, if you are stuck in any part of the game, chances are there are youtube videos showing how people get by.

Also, be sure you're using the silver sword once you have to attack the tentacles. Some of the people I've seen have problems with it have gone in with only a steel sword. It makes quick attacks (left-mouse clicks) completely ineffective, so you'd never cut the tentacle if you were using quick attacks with a steel sword. You can theoretically cut it with right-clicks and a steel sword, but it takes a lot longer. At least three times as many swings, as I remember.

I have used that Yrden over and over and over.


I cannot get past the first two tentacles.


It makes me sick to my stomach (vertigo) that rapid spinning around and around (of the character) in a circle at that high speed over and over and over

There is no way this is easy

The first two tentacles after the cutscene are non-trappable. There are two trappable ones on the right side, and two trappable ones on the left side. The ones in the front won't be affected by Yrden.

But if it's a huge problem for you anyway, upload your most recent autosave to mediafire or something.

What do you mean you can't get past the first two tentacles? Did you die from not being able to avoid them?

Have you watched the youtube videos? Practice your timing, and you'll be able to avoid the tentacles.

Sure. On XP you can open up the start menu, go to "My Documents," then "Witcher 2," and the savegames will be in the "gamesaves" folder.

I'm assuming that it's pretty much the same on Vista and Windows 7. If I'm wrong on that, someone correct me.

EDIT: It might be that there's an extra folder you have to go into in Vista and W7. Something like Start > Documents > My Games > Witcher 2 > gamesaves. I can't confirm that, but that seems to be where the saves for some other games that I have installed on a Vista machine are :)

Who or where do I send it to?

Take the most recent Autosave.sav file (the .bmp file isn't necessary) and you can go to http://www.mediafire.com/ and upload it there. You just click the file and you can drag it straight into the window, no sign-ins required.

Once it uploads there should be an option to "copy link to clipboard" or something to that effect. You just click on that, then paste the link here and we'll get past the Kayran for you.

Why do I have to do all that when I can just send the autosave through my e-mail address to somebody else's e-mail?

Use Mongoose potion. Use Quen. Stay mostly on the sides till you're ready to trap tentacles; don't just run around right in front of it. The tentacles telegraph their blows. Watch for it, cast Yrden, and roll out of the way. Rinse and repeat.
