Dear Friends

So once more, there is no software that cannot be cracked.
Please tell me your opinion, why people don't want to pay for games.
People who create such games earn for their families, wife/housband, children.
There are plenty The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings cracked torrents.
There are even Download Content for The Witchet 2 on torrents too (they simply extract files to one folder and that's it).
I don't get it. Is it all connected with price? What level of price will satisfy people to buy the game?
Some of them tells, that they want to test the game before buy, but there are Demo version too.

What is your opinion?

Sincerely

Some people don't have the money to buy at the release, they may buy it later if they like the "demo"

Some people don't have the age to buy it and might buy it in a few years when they are allowed to.

Some people never buy without experimenting a "demo" . They might buy it if it is that good!

Some people are just selfish bastards that don't get that saving a few bucks by not paying for a game they can afford may usually become a HUGE expense in medical care when they get their colon cancer!

Now, some people who buy the cheaper copy on the streets, either PC or console games, Movie DVD, Software, Fake Louis Vitton purses, fake Rolex, etc, should go to jail together who those who sell because that's feeding the organized crime and giving them more money for guns, drug trafficking, political election of their thugs, etc.
Personaly I buy most of my games (200+ games on steam library)
But the funny part of piracy is that even people that gonna work in this industry, most of them download pirated version of apps\games.

I am a student and learn programming engineering, and most of my mates, that in a few years going to be programmers - they all have pirated games.
Because most people don't care about anyone but themself? So if they don't feel bad about downloading it why should they bother paying for it? There is no argument you will actually make a veteran pirate pay for a game (unless it have multiplayer or smth not available in riped version). They are happy with it. Most of them will never buy anything that can be downloaded for their entire life.

edit: So this is really not about price. Pirates are just pirates. Deal with it.

Dear Friends

...but there are plenty people, that never will buy any product even, if it's very good and highest rated product in the category.

Sometimes I think, how I will be angry and sad, if I will create some products let say for 2 years hard work, and other guys will not buy it, but steal it.

It's not fair... I have got family to care, childer, wife and this is my work.

So is it equal Piracy = Stealing? What is your opinion?

Best regards.

Sincerely
free= better then cost?

but i dont care about their reasons they are all bastards who deserve to get punished in some way
Dear Friends

Yep, free is better then paying, but free will not feed their families.
So if they are stealing, because they want to test before buy, hmm, it's strange, because they should also steal car to test it before buy, because maybe it's not worth to buy.

But there are car free rides and here are demo of the game.
Best regards.

Sincerely

No, free downloading is not the same as stealing because there is no actual loss. It was not a sale. It's like the guy that spend the day asking for free samples of a product in the supermarket, NOT like the guy that breaks a vitrine to actually steal some goods.

The real thieves are those selling the copies of many different products on the streets all over the planet because they ARE getting illegal money. Money that should be paid to the legit owners. Now, that IS a loss.

I have my CD free for d/l at my website from day one and the only bad it did was to make the CD sell out faster. =)
I don't have money to buy all the games I would like to play so I get some with detourned maner.
Sometimes theese games don't deserve their price or any interest and I forgot them.
Some of them enjoy me and I buy them when their price decrease.
And finally a few of them deserve support for the quality and the visible involvement and efforts of the devellopers.
The Witcher II is in the last category.
The Standard version of the box makes somes collectors bundle a joke, the game is just awesome at the moment, it's a PC exclusivity ...etc
CDProject have found the best anti piracy technique : THEY JUST MAKE A GAME THAT DESERVE HIS PRICE
Keep going on this way !
Dear o0-synapse-0o

Yes, but if you can not afford to buy the game, nowhere is it written that you need at all to play it.
If I cannot pay for something, I leave it, not steal it.
If somebody would like to be richer, then he/she should invest in yourself, to have better future.
Best regards.

That's the whole point isn't it? It is NOT stealing. No one is losing anything concrete! When the guy goes into a game store, put the gun to the clerk's head and say " give me that game" .. THAT is stealing!

And why so formal?

Why so formal? :) Hmm... :)

So in your opinion it's not stealing, it's some kind of borrowing?
Digital copy or box copy on DVD is the same for me.
If you steal DVD box with the gun it's stealing in your opinion, but when I will gently ask seller to open box and give me DVD to make a copy of this game and after that, he will put original inside the box, it's not?

In the shop you don't pay 45 Euros for Box and DVD inside only and for digital copy it's free, because there is nothing to steal, because it's only data.

I don't agree...

Sincerely

Sorry this is complete garbage, I know many people that will download the odd game to see if it is something they would play, but happily pay for the games that they really want. I also have a close friend that downloaded a pirate version of a game and started producing mods for it; the company was so impressed with his modding skills they hired him and he still works for them and is now a senior producer.

For my part, in the past when not working, I would download a title and play it, if I liked it, pay for it, if not it was deleted. To suggest that someone who would download a game will never pay for titles is asinine and frankly talking out of your backside. There are as many reasons for someone downloading a title, as there are ways to get hold of them.

Oh for what it's worth, I own my copy of Witcher 2, purchased here at gog.com, but it is what it is, it is stealing when you download a cracked title, I won't colour it as anything different that would simply be making excuses.

All the goodies in the standard editions is the reason I bought 2 copies. I originally bought the retail version off of Amazon with all the Amazon credit I had saved, but also bought it on GoG since I wasn't sure when my retail copy would show up and GoG was having a midnight release. Good thing I did end up getting it on GoG because while my retail copy was delivered on release date it wasn't delivered till 6:30pm.
