Well, no one wants to admit it, but this game WAS cross-platform developed.

CDP, in their wisdom, said nothing of the fact, and released the PC version first.
This was so the PC gamers would pre-order, thinking they would get a real pc version of the game, like TW1 was.

But, meh, who really cares in this day and age, of console ports anyway?
Only us hardcore pc gamers, who refuse to use a controller, who have real pc monitors, and like to use ALL of the keys on a keyboard (left handers need arrow/numpad/del/end/pagedown, and ALL mouse buttons, including rmb and lmb, to be re-bindable).

Oh well.

If Witcher series is now cross platform than those things die almost immediately and kill the series for us PC pro gamers... The biggest reason behind my instant pre order of this game was to support the PC gamers movement/DRM Movement..this dies when it changes to console

As long as you guys work on the pc version first, and not the other way around, i don't really care if you would decide to port it over to the consoles. That way you get higher revenues and can continue to make awesome games.

i think there revenue keeping it PC exclusive is alot.
Anything more from this point on is just the need for greed.

I would agree with you though if only the Witcher PC series was done just for PC than a year later the crappy dumbd down console port was released.
But the moment i see console related cripplings in this beautiful game series i will sadly remove my support and pray another company comes forward and keeps its beautiful games unbroken by the console/casual gamers movement

I think its obvious that this will be the PC game ported to the console, not a console port. Considering the game was built and released on the PC first. But some of you will always find something to be upset about.

I dont care about porting to consoles either.

But, I DO care about what they do to the PC versions BECAUSE of the consoles.
They should have built the pc version for pc gamers, but they didnt, except for higher graffix.
They wussed out on key bindings, and menu's, and movement, and mouse accel, and aspect ratio.

I never bash a console game that is PROPERLY ported to PC.
And, I am not bashing TW2 yet either, since I just downloaded it, and havent played yet.
But, reports are all over the place, and it does seem like a sketchy port.

We are talking about the series being crippled from this point on if they embrace the typical cross platform approach we see every other company doing.

Fine, fuck off and play nothing but DX11 tech demos while PC and console gamers* will enjoy playing games for their gameplay, story, characters and atmosphere.

This game does have a slight case of consolitis I must admit. I just hate the UI's they make for console games. For example I love the old grid based inventories which are dying a death because they don't work well with a controller. Morrowind -> Obllivion, Witcher 1 - Witcher 2 same deal.

For any multiplatform game they should completely redesign the UI for PC but nobody bothers sadly. Much cheaper to use a UI that works on consoles and is just about functional on PC.

I can play TW2 on max (not including the future-proofing uber-sampling). It sounds like you're doing some weird autistic version of overcompensating. What makes TW2 a good game goes far beyond its visuals. If I want nothing but realistic appearances, I'll look out my window or go for a walk - it's free and more realistic than any game. The gameplay and other elements of great games are equally reproducible on consoles, even the graphics don't take such a hit since the hardware doesn't have to support a bloated OS like PCs do.
