I have just installed patch 2 now, when I start the game, a window pops up asking me to insert the disk.
Whilst the game continues to load irrespective of this, it does appear to be the remnants of some sort of DRM disk check that shouldn't be in the digital download of the game anyway, Anyone else had this happen?

Yes, I have an error message that's probably similar to yours (see pic). Never had this prior to patch 2.0.
I have reported it to support

After the interview someone posted here where one of the leads of CDPR said they tested in more than 100 rigs I'm more convinced that they need more QA.
I'm having the same issue, but with the U.S. retail collectors edition. I tried reinstalling, but I've still got the same disk prompt at game start up.

I was hoping the problem was restricted to physical copies of the game, as I purchased a second copy through GOG, but this seems to be a general issue with version 2.0

At least the game is playable, but it is a nuisance. Hopefully we will get a workaround or hotfix shortly.
No word either from GOG here or in the witcher forum...?
I had a similar error long before patch 2 if that helps:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/no_disk_in_the_drive

It only occurs if i had a securom protected disc in my physical dvd drive like Bioshock 2. Then if I eject Bioshock 2, and run Witcher 2 launcher, I get that weird "no disc" error.
Happened to me too, but the problem went away when I restarted my PC.
Sorry, but:

- I never had this error before patch 2.0
- It's been months since any DVD or CD disk sits in my DVD drive
- The error did not went away when I restarted my PC.

So, ball back to GOG/CDProject (are they listening ?)
Some people have had this issue prior to the patch, and with other games.

Make sure you don't have any media in your drive.
I DO NOT have any media on my DVD drive, as stated above...

And I never had this problem with any other GOG game, or with TW2 until patch 2.0. Yesterday I even reinstalled again and confirmed that with 1.0g version I have no error. It only appears after patch 2.0
Does it still happen if you run the game as admin, or even compatibility mode?

Interesting that you're having the issue with XP Pro. Is it 32 or 64 bit?

Over at the official forum Majo_RED, from CDPR, is trying to narrow the problem down and was wondering if the issue was only coming up for Win 7 users, x64 in my case. Apparently it isn't restricted to Win 7.

What OS are the rest of you running?

Here's a link to the discussion at the official board:

Thanks for the link, Elvis, I will post there.

I'm on WinXP Pro 32 bits.

I am running Vista ultimate 32 bit have not been running TW2 as administrator so far and have not tried to see if it makes any difference to the disk request which started, following the patch 2 upgrade. Rebooting makes no difference. Probably not relevant to the disk request but I have disabled the desktop themes as I was having CTD's and saw this as a suggestion to help prevent that but not sure if it has.
Like others I just find it annoying to now have this pop up that didn't occur berfore patch 2.
Perhaps, we are being a little too critical of Projekt RED they have listened to their customers, issued patches quickly and even carried out a major game overhaul in quite a short space of time relative to the game release a rare and often non existant level of service elsewhere in gaming sotware and this has spoilt us so that having to click on a tab a couple of times to get it going has become a real chore but, having said that I admit to being guilty because I also find it really, really annoying.
