Maybe, apparently Sundin is a Swedish NHL player

Bbtufty: Maybe, apparently Sundin is a Swedish NHL player
Well if they are talking about Matts Sundin the hockey player, I reallyyyyyyyyy don't get it lol.
Or it might just be a bad translation or some slang I've never heard before, but I wouldn't like to think that I'm wrong =P

dbnortheast: The reviewer in a French magazine. A scan of the review is a few posts up. My half-assed French may be wrong.
I'll translate teh pluses and minus.

Plus:

- a realization that slaps... I think they've realized the books well? (could be wrong, it's slang or an idiom)
It means that the realization is stunning.
And I'm french but i don't get the joke either :s

I think they mean that the world is realized very well.

It does. I was talking about this joke :
"Without doubt, the Texan cousin of Sundin would have shouted out one of those famous 'Amazing! This game is amazing!' But the Frenchman inside me is content to be a bit more sober: 'If you could only buy one thing this year, buy this. Good work, guys"

oh i think that is like he's saying "the texan in me (maybe he's from or been to texas) would say ALRIGHT GREAT GAME", but being a frenchman at heart he would be a bit more down to earth about it
Updated !

Yeah, looks like the reviewer is called Sundin, I guess he means either himself or he has a Texan cousin

Perkel: Updated !
"+Combat system with little flaws? This is the one I'm not sure about " should be something like "+Well executed combat system" instead

And for the joke, it's a private joke indeed. Sundin seems to be another member of the Jeuxvideo magazine staff.
Gry Online (Polish) gives it a 9.5.

Google translated pros/cons:

PROS:

addictive, well-told, non-linear story;
intransigence and attention to detail;
superb dialogues;
variety of side quests;
beautiful graphics and visual art;
scalable difficulty level - everyone will find something for everyone.

Cons:

the end leaves a huge unsatisfied;
minor technical issues.

If I read the "translation" correctly, the game ends very suddenly and does not have an 'epilogue' like Fallout: New Vegas or Dragon Age have. Other reviews have alluded to this as well.
Ah, intransigence, that oft used word in reviews

I think Very Good translates to above 92%. So all reviews are above 92%.
More often than not, all pre-release reviews are positive since advanced copies are sent by choice by publishers and they will often send it to people they know might appreciate their product.

It's similar with movies. Thor was well beyond 94% fresh on rottentomatoes prior to release with 37+ reviewsm and sunk to low seventies and is stable now at 77%.

I just hope the TW2 fanboys won't trash those reviewers who might not have liked TW2 like the fanboys do on rotten... it's despicable. Pre-release reviews are often lightly biased so I will reserve my joy, but I admit I am very, very excited to play it. (I did cancel my Collector edition pre-order for the time being after reading some comments and seeing some pictures, but will keep my GOG version of course. 175$ is just too much money to waste on incomplete/lesser quality product).
