Zero9X: I tried it earlier because thats what i originally thought it was but it did nothing. Now i'm hearing things that some of the settings don't change properly in the .ini. So i'll have a look later on tonight when i've got time to check it.

Will post my results when i do that.

bluewave256: Thank you very much. : )
I tried disabling it in the Advanced Config and in the User.ini and its still on.... hmmm
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53GHz
Radeon HD 3850 1.2GB
2GB of RAM

Play with settings mainly on the low end with about 20-30 FPS

Everything's disabled except Depth of Field - Cutscenes, Bloom, Wet Surfaces Rain Effect, and and Anti-Aliasing.

Texture Downscaling set to low.
Texture Memory size set to very large.
Shadow Quality set to low.
Number of Shadowed Lights set to low.
LOD Distance set to normal.
Decals set to medium spec.

EDIT: Since the new patch was out, and after playing with the options, I updated this.

My Spec:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE @ 3.8
ATI Radeon HD 6950 2GB (converted to 6970)
4GB DDR3 Ram
1920x1080

I think the only thing letting me down spec wise is the ram. Could really do with another 8GB. But I'm getting 38-45fps at the moment.

I set the preset to Ultra.
Changed Texture Memory Size - Very Large,
Bloom - Disabled (personal preference),
Ubersampling - Disabled (because it really does kill my frame rate)
Vertical Sync - Disabled. (Using D3DOverrider instead - Better & Smoother)

I can't see anyone other than someone having a beefy Sli setup getting the most out of Ubersampling. So no hard loss there, but it would be nice to see what its like the next time i do an upgrade down the line. :)

TakumiVK: I havent had any trouble with optimisation. I could play the game buttery smooth on max (including Ubersampling).

Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 560ti
Processor: Intel i5 2500K over-clocked to 3.2Ghz
Memory: 8GB RAM

KenR7A: What is your definition of buttery smooth? You sure Ubersampling is on? That setting is designed for the most top end cards and SLI. I'm talking dual GTX590s here.
After trying the Witcher 2 on for an hour I get a constant frame rate between 28 to 32 frames with ubersampling on and get 60fps with it off.
i7 970 @ 4.2GHZ
2 x 6950 in crossfire mode (using Radeon Pro to force Dirt 2 profile with AFR)

Ultra Settings
Textures on very large
SSAO disabled
Ubersampling Off
Vysnc On

Getting 40-60fps at 2560x1600 fullscreen with VYSNC on or 40-80fps with VYSNC off but I get a fair bit of screen tearing and flickering probably due to crossfire not working properly.

SSAO doesn't seem to make much difference on or off during usual gameplay but the framerate really drops during cutscenes, to low 20fps.
Hopefully I will be able to run with ubersampling enabled with a proper crossfire profile.
I can certainly see there is room for further optmisation through game patches and driver updates.
Considering how beautiful the game looks I am VERY happy with the framerate.
It is better looking than Crysis 2, with alot more going on but runs at a better framerate, at least for me.

EDIT - Just ran the game with ubersampling on and getting 18-53fps depending on the environment, lighting etc. The frameate is very up and down. If it would settle at even 25 or 30fps that would be fine but it is up and down like a yoyo.
With SSAO on as well the framerate drops to 16-45fps. If they could stabilize the framerate so it was more settled across the whole game, that would be better.
But I supposed it is hard to do because the environment changes so much, from dark caves with single light source to outside with multiple light sources.
The Dirt 2 profile in Radeon Pro REALLY helped improved my performance as prior to that I would have to drop my resolution to 1920x1080 to get a decent framerate at High settings.

i have 2 5850 in CF and using the dirt profile (no need to use RadeonPro, just copy/paste witcher2.exe and rename it to dirt2.exe) and the behaviour is still very weird.

During scenes it works pretty well (better if cinematic depth of field is disabled) but during game play in the camp it goes from high 60s to 30s. Inside the tent there are times when i see 70s and then when talking to triss with no aparent reason it goes to 37 or so. Outside of the tent again the fps go up and down a lot. It's still better than using one card (not by much, i was getting avg 45 fps with one 5850) but it's clear that a driver/profile for just the witcher 2 will make crossfire work much much better and hope to get to more stable 60fps.
Dear neonism

I have got 1x 5850 and Ultra Detail 1080p without ubersampling and >30 FPS.
There will be hotfix from ATI soon, so it will be more optimized.
Best regards.

I think this game is one from few, which graphics stands on very high level.
Crysis 2 wasn't so beautiful as The Witcher 2, and everybody say it's so beautiful.
Look at Metro 2033 and try to play on the highest details on the same 5850, you will get 5-12 FPS only.

Sincerely

That is so true. Metro 2033 didn't look as good as Witcher 2 at using it highest settings and Metro 2033 framerate really took a BIG nosedvie at it highest settings, especially if you are running at 2560x1600.
Witcher 2 may not be perfectly optimized but it is the best looking PC game out there and has enough graphics options to make it playable on lower spec PCs.

CDProjekt are obviously very proud of the Witcher games and are great a giving back to the community so I am sure all the issues people are having will be fixed in time.
yeah, i'm pretty content with how the game performs with one 5850. 45fps average with ultra without ubersampling, aliasing, cinematic depth of field and motion blur. I guess when the crossfire profile + drivers are ready 2 5850 should be enough to get at least 60fps average with the same settings.

Let's hope at least :-)
How can I tell what FPS rate the game is running at?
Dear scampywiak

Fraps or RadeonPro (better choice for ATI users).

Best regards.

Sincerely
i use fraps for showing the fps

I think the problem is not so on the CDProjekt side. The real problem are NVIDIA/ATI Drivers / profiles for SLI / CrossFire (at least ati posted they are working on it)

scampywiak: How can I tell what FPS rate the game is running at?
I use FRAPS. You don't need the pay-for version unless you want to do recordings. You can get frame rate displayed on screen, or frame rate statistics captured to a file (CSV, so you can open it in Excel or OpenOffice).

There are others, but FRAPS works with just about any setup.
Dear scampywiak

...but use FRAPS only to check FPS, when you want to play not only checking, turn it off, because it will decrease your performance.

Best regards.

Sincerely
thanks guys.
