To the Mr Angry's on this thread:

C'mon calm down. Bremsstrahlung's views may be a minority here but he/she is perfectly entitled to express them and receive a civil response.

To Bremsstrahlung:

Sorry to see your post attracting a baptism of fire - most people here are friendly and helpful though so don't be too put off. However you are likely to find other parts of the game offensive (language notably - 4 letter words abound) so you may want to consider another RPG instead (this thread has some suggestions - Drakensang is sex and nudity free). You may want to give the original Witcher a miss though.

Don't post any refund requests here either - you'll get the online equivalent of a lynch mob... :)

To everyone else:

In terms of (potentially) offensive content, I'd suggest there would be stronger case to complain about perjorative language, since there is no option to skip it. Personally, I found it appropriate for the context and it added to the atmosphere (the soldier's "Plough 'em!" song in Flotsam had me in stitches).

As for the classification, my boxed copy has a label "Contains very strong language, strong sex and bloody violence". If anything, I'd be more inclined to complain about the lack of sex in the game - "strong sex" suggests full-frontal action from the get-go!

bremsstrahlung: P.S.: Yes violence features prominently but that serves to further game play. I would have the same complaint if I was just watching people get stabbed and killed needlessly.
The violence furthers gameplay your OK with that logic. Why do you think they are fighting? Its for the right(ultimately) to contine to have 'distasteful' sex(subconsciously).

bremsstrahlung: Okay I'm not far into the game yet however I have seen the introduction scene and well frankly the nudity in it was pathetically childish. Triss writhing around totally naked making little moaning noises? Blah.

After seeing it I decided that really its going to detract from the experience for me, so did a little bit of searching and found there's no way of removing it or well making it a bit more mature. The worst part though is I have found the community goes nuts about this topic citing the mature classification and what not as a justification. Personally it just seems bad, and embarrassing to watch.

So anyway to phrase this as a question, what do you folks think? Are the sex/nudity scenes helpful or detrimental to the overall feel of the game?
Well my only complaint about the opening scene is: why the hell is Geralt wearing pants? If you're gonna show me a naked lady then show me a naked guy as well. It's only fair. Right now, yeah, the opening scene is geared towards men. I'm a guy so I'm not terribly offended. :)

What does offend even me though is chapter 2 where Geralt finds Philippa having sex and instead of apologizing and saying smth along the lines of "u seem busy, be back in a few hours" just walks in the middle of it like he has every right to be there. I mean WTF? And why the hell don't the 2 sorceresses kick him out? Why the hell don't they lock the door? And it happens twice! Somebody please tell me how this is supposed to be mature.

PS. The Elven bath scene was really well done. Except for the water, the water was unrealistic. ;)
Why are you insisting on turning this into a point about nudity? The point is that sex and erotica and portrayal of women in computer games, and FRPs in general, has as much depth and character as Logjammin'. I am intensely sexual, very libertine and liberal, God knows my Tumblr blog is burning, but I almost always roll my eyes to how women are handled in games.

I just don't know whether it is unintentional (scripted by dorks), intentional (scripted for dorks), or both (Interplay).

rustypup: Anyone applying the words "realism" and ""authentic" to those awkwardly rendered and thoroughly soulless excuses for "sex" are somewhat lacking in sexual experience.

Honestly. The encounters are primarily throw-away events that lend very little to the role-playing quality of the game. They add very little to the actual content of the books. (Unless the originals read differently to the translated version I've read).

If you want fake sex, the internet is clogged with it. If it's adding nothing to the story, it's put there primarily to appease the juvenile delinquents whose entire sexual history can be summed up in one lonely fist.

As an aside, hissy fits come across as childish pique, not well-constructed counterpoints... :/ ....
What do you want, Rusty, a spy-cam?

Anyhow, I believe we were talking most specifically about nudity, not sex... at least I was. I don't actually recall making any reference to sex.
Obvious Troll is obvious...

It's too bad you are getting slammed for having a less than positive comment about TW2. I don't agree wi8th you but I thought Triss should have turned that guard into a goat in that scene.

Geralt is a bit of a whore. If he wasn't sterile I imagine we'd see: "The Witcher: Bastards Unite"

All Geralt's illegitimate offspring join together and hunt him down...

Slammed? What are you smoking? This is a game about Geralt the Witcher who ploughs women. The game has it plastered everywhere that it has mature content including nudity. The first game well established that Geralt is a womanizer and seducer. The novels the game is based on has a well known reputation for Geralt's sexual endeavors.

This criticism is just plain stupid. No need to be polite about, this is the dumbest criticism posted on this forum so far.

lol @ hulahula32

The back of the box should say:

This is a game about Geralt the Witcher who ploughs women. enough said
Women nude women nude... bah.. I'm tired of these sexist comments...

What about us men? Geralt was nude too mind you. I think he had nothing on but his undies! :(

Us men have our rights too. I say we should ban games that shows men in a bad way.
I think he has no idea about Philippa-Cynthia scenes lol or Elven Bath scenes.

Actually, Triss was fully nude, Geralt had his pants on (not the armored pants, just his normal ones)... so in that light I guess the OP had 1 valid point, it is geared towards males... I mean seriously, unless you are gay/bi/bi-curious why the fuck would you wanna see another guys arse or cock? (with the exception of hard core porn where the cock is a requisite prop)
Its funny how most people defense are Geralt is a manwhore or the game is for adults. Lets be real here. I would have prefered it weren't in the game soley because it looks bad and is embarrassing to watch. Awkwardly animated sex scenes detracts more than it adds. Now if it was nicely animated (I don't see that happening for quite some time) then I would not mind but the current iteration the game can surely do without.
