Many of us had this issue, still no response from anyone and we're pushing the 10hr since reported mark. If you've got other headphones/speakers, using those is the best you can do.
ok so its a known issue with the headphones themselves?

Drivers perhaps hopefully I have some speakers hanging around here somewhere.
I have a G35 as well and no sound, if only I had another set of headphones...

Yupp, same problem here! Luckily I have another headset tho :)
I would assume it is to do with the fact that a USB audio device is pretty simple in its design and function and may not support more advanced features of direct audio. Since I have no idea about the way the audio is coded in the Witcher 2, those are only speculations…

I would suggest you run DXdiag (DirectX Diagnostic Tool) and look at the Sound details to see if any problems are detected or if there is any problem with the drivers or support. In addition I would suggest you download the latest DirectX distribution files to ensure you are covered on all fronts. For that see www.microsoft.com/directx
Same here. I get sound when using my sound card and 5.1 speakers. If I switch to USB headset (Corsair HS1) I have no sound from the Witcher 2 but do from everything else.
Yup, also have a set of G35s and no audio in the game. Guess I'll have to use my wife's headset until they resolve this issue.
I don't get any sound either, but I'm not using headphones, I'm running a d2x card.
Same here, G35 and no sound. You would think they would test at least one USB headphones, especially since they are so common now. Eh, same thing happen when Crysis 2 demo was released.
Corsair HS1's (USB, software 7.1), no sound. Excellent. Third freaking game in the last week that has launch issues with USB headsets (Hydrophobia, Brink, and now..). Give me a freaking break.
I'm not getting any sound either.

G35 and no sound here either... was wondering what the hell was going on.
Possible workaround: the problem seems to be with 7.1 audio. My HS1s will output stereo right up to 5.1 just fine in game, but nothing on 7.1. If your headset drivers give you the option, might be worth a shot.

Yep, and that is usually the problem, with the developers not considering this speaker system setup, which some headphones use now. G35 for example has this and no option of changing is, with exception of uninstalling the headphone drivers and using the default windows ones, but then you will only have stereo sound.
