Senteria: While we're on the subject. I want to improve my computer. It's home build like all the computers I've owned. I just wonder which parts should be considered upgraded. I know my memory is on the low end and it would be the first thing on my improvement list. Anyway it got the following:

Intel Core i3 540 @3.07 Ghz
Main board: Asus P7P55D LE
Memory: DDR 3 Dual. 2x2 gb which makes up for a total of 4.00 GB ram.
Graphics: Radeon HD 5830 - 1024 Mbytes - GDDR5

I've played the Witcher 2 on high settings but in Loc Muinne I noticed at a certain area it would load forever and just freeze. Also clicking on load game or auto loading takes quite a while. Might that be a memory issue? I know when I play the witcher 2 I don't have that much memory left.
You fell for the typical Intel ruse with that CPU (release a CPU with a socket which will be dead by the next gen)

I'd recommend a mid-class i5 and more RAM (I'd say get 8GB, so it would be a bit more futureproof, because RAM technology changes slowly), the GPU is pretty good, it can handle most games (so I'd upgrade it a bit later), the first things to do are buy more RAM, and then maybe get a new CPU and motherboard

Didn't mention the operating system; more RAM isn't much use with a 32-bit OS.

If you have a 64-bit OS, increase the RAM to 8GB; it's inexpensive and will help keep other programs out of the way of the game. If you have a 32-bit OS, wait until you update to a 64-bit OS. Try to get Windows 7 before MS pulls it off the market in favor of their new abomination.

I am running my computer on Windows 7 64 bit. =)
I saw a little bit of windows 8 and I prefer not to have a smartphone looking desktop.

Gromuhl: No, your GPU is pretty slow, and has very little memory.
Also, you don't have an SSD, which is going to cause massive slowdows.
The CPU is okay, but the ram should really be 1866mhz, 1600mhz just won't cut it for this game.

Sorry.
A GTX 680 with 2GB vram is slow?!

Haha! Tell me another one!

OP, my specs are lower than yours, and I'm good enough to run on ultra (with ubersampling disabled though).
