publius10: As for TW2, well it's a different style of combat altogether and I don't know why everyone seems to compare the two. Best experience? Well none, since I like my Geralt to actually respond to my controls and not just stand there getting pummeled - see my "wall of text".
Both the games are sold as roleplaying genre games and in the span of this current year they have been only FEW* games as AAA titles, hence the games are compared citing that genre and category.
The ones who didn't like DA2 (like myself) after playing it, tend to compare this game to something which we liked (Witcher 2). It may be many reasons..but to me I am just looking for quality end product experience.
My reason for hating DA2 apart from the cock and bull storyline, is mainly the combat.
1. Super fast flashy animations(like swinging two handed sword like a light saber)
2. Unrealistic and unconvincing attack animations
3. Repeated style (mainly because combat is too fast and it play's through all the existing attack animation set)
4. Skills which doesn't fit the ambiance (how would a lightning storm or a firestorm_fireball shooting from above gather inside a house!)
5. Skills which doesn't make sense; AKA cross-class combos...why can't a mage freeze (brittle) an enemy and get extreme bonus/kill the same with a powerful stone fist!. Why is mandatory that only a figher or rogue can see the **brittle part advantage!.
6. Why is that the only difference between difficulty is not how you use the skill but how many times you use the skill (even with normal attacks, a rogue has to hit 10x or 20x times more to kill a powerful monster. Its like someone hitting a rock!),
7. Why is backstab replaced by a blinkstab!, but the name still mentions backstab.
8. Why is there no blood spitting forth when an enemy is taking damage!, but they grib/explode to neatly cut body pieces!. (extremely irritating when a rogue does blinkstab*, one touch of the knife/dagger and BOOM body parts)
The game has so many elements, I can very well write up 100+ points just against combat...overally its just dumbed*** pretty much to how a toddler plays with its toys(consolised_streamlined combat), but with added* gore + cheap mature content to get the game going hardcore/mature tag.
The game is very unconvincing!...that is not something I expect from a game which is AAA title, coming from bio ware, with RPG elements (where I cannot even change gear of my companions, no descriptions for items/lore broken roleplay!), etc etc etc...
Game is just below par_average. But the way the game had been portrayed by the developers, publishers, review sites..I got the game, played it and was extremely disappointed. It has no replay value what so ever in terms of roleplaying, nor combat which was in the appreciating region.
-Edit-
I typed from something to somewhere, shit.. (blame it on DA2_I hate that bloody game)
