I'm currently playing Witcher 2 on my old Core2Duo with a 9600GT (i'm due for a new rig, that's for sure...probably in a few months) and I'm thoroughly enjoying the game despite my low fps at the lowest settings. In the prologue, I usually got 20-40 fps, with a few occasional painful dips around 15 fps. I'm currently in Flotsam with 25-30 fps. I was wondering if there were going to be moments more demanding than the prologue or if I should be good for the rest of the game? Thanks!

Is precisely the prologue/tutorial the more demanding part.

I have an i5 750, 12Gb ram, and GT640 2GB vcard, and while the rest of the game runs fine in hight quality mode, in the prologue have a low FPS.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I could hold off playing the game until I'd get hardware that would do it justice.... but I failed to do that and just decided to play it now and replay again later with a better rig.
After some tweaking I got it to work at 30 FPS, no complains but when I reach one particular scene (no big spoilers just in case) where Geralt takes a pleasant bath ;) game goes 10/15FPS and I'm not sure if it has to do with the rendering of the water or what... any help appreciated...

I would say the end of Chapter 2.
I did manage to finish the game with my old computer. I ended up putting the resolution at 800X600 to get a good steady frame-rate... Not the prettiest, but the story still sucked me in.
