Anyone disappointed at the amount of monsters in the game?

There were hardly any in the game compared to TW1 :( Which is pretty underwhelming considering Geralt is a monster hunter :O

Would anyone like to see more monsters in the sequel or any expansion packs?
Not too concerned about the monsters or the lack thereof because I was carried away by the story. True, he is a monster hunter but when you are working with monarch and accused of regicide I don't expect you would spend too much time hunting monsters.

That being said, an increase in the variety of monsters is always welcome.
Yeah, the game was quite focused on the whole assassins of the kings deal (hence the name). I don't find it out of place but more content is never a bad thing.
There were plenty of monsters in the game. They just happened to be mostly human.

Good point there. Reminded me of the dialogue between Geralt and Zoltan where the former bemoaned that evil nowadays hide behind the name of law and religion.
Well, according the books monsters are quite rare nowadays in The Witcher world. And for most of the time Geralt is very unemployed monster slayer.
First game might gave a feeling that Conjunction of the Spheres was just yesterday. And this is wrong. TW2 is much more true to the books in terms of monster population.
Yes, there are too few fights in generall in Witcher 2.

True, but however i'd like to see something more, maybe some vampires? A bruxa or two and some alps?

'Cause the bruxa in the game is much more a wraith...
More monsters are needed, and random spawn points.
guys....i know this will come as a shock, but...

i miss the swamps from TW1.

monsters everywhere!
If you go by the books, even TW2 has far too many monsters. Lots of little fish. Whereas in a story, Geralt might be occupied with a single monster over the course of days or even weeks. Which includes finding the monster, making preparations for the fight and sometimes in the end he even decides that the monster is not the bad guy and forgoes his payment - or extorts it out of the customer, who turns out to be a bad guy who wanted to get rid of competition.

That MO would be terrible boaring in a game, though.
But locations like the swamps in TW were just ridiculous, especially in the last chapter (thank Melitele there's a mod to get rid of them, so you can enter the caves you need to visit).

I miss boss fights like Kikimore queen or Golem though. That was very exciting, but not as frustrating as the Kayran. In TW2 I love the Arachas - but if they were around every corner, that would be boring. All the little fish monsters do respawn quickly, like the rotfiends, terribly boring after the first dozen or so. I'd vote for less cannon fodder and some more REAL fights. Where your potions and oils actually make a difference.

Well, I vote for more cannon fodder. Really, I can almost make it through the entire forest in Flotsam without a fight. Chapter 2 is even more devoid of monster conflict, and they all appear in the same spots so I know they're coming. They need to randomly generate.
I agree with Audreywinter , i think there are already too many of them , but not enough real "tough" monsters apart from the Kayran .

but ok , my personal tastes are different , i actually enjoy far more to fight humans because the battle are more "technical" , and i love using the sword in game , so i like to parry , counter attack a lot

But ok , not sure my opinion is relevant because If a game without any monster and set in medieval Japan or Europe was made with the same combat system as the Witcher2 , i would buy it instantly as i truly love swordsmanship in real life !

For instance just replace "magic" with " concentration or ki " , replace Aard/ignii etc by Iaijutsu drawing and cut techniques , integrate sword-to-sword wrestling and unarmed ju-jutsu or wrestling techniques , we already have dagger throwing like for an assassin or ninja , alchemy could still be used to heal parts of the body after fights , such a RPG would get me so mad , i may lose my social life lol

Somebody needs to create a mod that respawns the larger monsters and maybe adds more of them/makes them tougher.

If you want to farm and have more "cannon fodder", just don't complete the Nekker or Endegra contracts for awhile. Between the forest area and the 2 caves - there are plenty of monsters in that Act that respawn each day. Less respawn after completing the contracts - but they still do.
