Mod does not work with version 1.3

Potion Duration Extension by eRe4s3r
Extends the durations of Oils/Potions

Newsflash

The Mod can now be found The Witcher Nexus and is merged under 1 mod
http://witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5

Complete with Install Instructions - all-in-one download, and separate downloads for each component.

--------------

-----------------------------------------------------------

Update you can now grab the collective mod (Oils and Potions at 30m without cat potion) from an alternate download mirror
http://www.mediafire.com/?3dhyzsl8cob831h

OR grab this version here
http://www.mediafire.com/?9k867zb1qdnd6c8
Which includes not only the potions and oils at30m (without cat), but also the crafting price equalizing mod in 1 pack.

-----------------------------------------------------------

What it does.
Extends all potions that had 10m duration to 60m (that is, 1 hour) or 30m (which is better balanced)

What it doesn't do
Extend cat potion (still at 5m) (There is a Version for that though, but i'd advice against it.

http://filesmelt.com/dl/def_stats_item_potion.xml

Simply download this file either directly to the The Witcher 2\CookedPC\items directory, or download it anywhere and copy it to the The Witcher 2\CookedPC\items

Note 1: If theres no Items directory under CookedPC create it yourself (New Folder -> Items) And copy the xml in there.

Note 2: Be sure to right click on the link below the AD on the filesmelt mirror and save as (or save target as) or whatever you call it. Make absolutely sure your browser is not trying to open the xml file (even though its marked as a file, not a web-page, so this is the browser to blame! ;p)

-- Additional Version 1
30m duration for all potions and oils (except cat potion!)
http://filesmelt.com/dl/items.zip
Includes both oils and potion

-- Additional Version 2
This file has the cat potion with 30 minutes as well, use at your own risk, danger to go blind.
http://filesmelt.com/dl/def_stats_item_potion.zip

It won't work with potions already active (in fact, make absolutely sure NO potion is active) i don't know what'll happen if you do...

So enjoy being able to use potions in boss fights now, as they WILL last through it.

Can be used with any other mod, as long it doesn't change the same file.

Brilliant, this will really help people who choose to follow the alchemy path.

During my first playthrough with alchemy, i often found that my potions would run out during some sequence leading to a tough fight, with no chance of drinking more beforehand, which puts alchemists at a huge disadvantage.

Yeah it should also help on some of those boss battles. I added weapon oils to the batch, they really needed a boost as well, many of those were under 5 minutes.

As my 2nd playthrough is "mage" I really needed better potions ;)

Awesome to see mods already (and with no official forums) even if they're not to my taste. Kudos.
Thanks. At default you could use up half a potion watching the pre-fight cutscenes!

hey eRe4s3r, did you use quickbms to extract those files?
I am trying with no result. :(

I explained how here

The potion extension mod isn't working correctly, at least for me.

1. Potions appear to have no toxicity (probably because of #2 . . . . )
2. Potions have no effect at all; no timer appears, and if you reenter meditation right after having done so to drink them, they're not displayed in the meditation drink-potion UI. However, potions are being consumed (the number of them you have in inventory goes down).

That is very weird, it works fine for me both duration, effect and toxicity ;/ Are you sure no potion effects were active when you put this in? (And you put it into The Witcher 2\CookedPC\Items ? )

Anyhow, it could also be something else, what version of the game do you have, the gog version? Or the steam version?

In all my tests so far all mod effects (oil and potions) worked as expected so i am not sure what could cause that.

Just wanted to chime in and say it works perfectly for me (GoG version). Thanks for another great mod!
I've got the GoG version.

I know it's doing something, as when it's in that directory, potions stop working. I removed it, and they go back to normal.

I dunno; the file is just an XML file, and I copied/pasted it to a text file and then changed it to XML. If it's working right for everyone else, there's obviously something I'm doing wrong . . I'll try to re-download it and try it a few more times.

Mhh, i don't think that would work at all. You should just copy the xml file straight to the directory. If you copy it to a txt file the txt would need to be unicode/dos format. (I edit these files with Crimson Editor - it displays the encoding ,p)

If you create a new txt file in windows it has by default ASCII/Dos encoding, and the game won't be able to read that at all, even if rename it to xml.

For those who care, the xml files are encoded Unicode (Little Endian) / Dos if you save them anything but that it won't work and won't be read.

I guess the explains why my regular XML editor is barfing trying to open/view the files. Oddly enough I can do this using a regular text editor.

The Browser (IE-8) insisted on opening those files in a seperate tab and displaying the XML, why I copied & pasted in the first place. That doesn't work, no, you have to save the target as an XML file in a local directory.

SlackerSupreme: I found the issue. The browser was adding the plusses and minuses from my copy & paste operation of the original XML file (the symbols are actually meant to open or close elements, not supposed to be actual printed chars).

I noticed a bunch of minus signs in the XML file, which I'd not seen before (just finished taking an XML class).

I just right clicked the links on the filemelt page this time and told it to save the target to my download directory. The file works fine.
Glad it does ,) I realize now that i should probably have zipped it, but it was just 1 xml file, it seemed overkill. ^^

Yeah things like being in the menu and cutscenes should pause the clock.
