This mod will restore the 5:1 ratio between purchase and sale prices that is found in the original Witcher game. At present, the Witcher 2 appears to have a 24:1 ratio which some have found a bit harsh.

How It Works & Notes:

items\def_item_schematics.xml adds a property to the quest item Witchers Silver Sword Diagram which will apply a substantial discount to store prices without affecting sales prices. This discount stacks with the Mysterious Merchant's 30% discount.

items\def_prices.xml raises all prices so that after discounts are applied, items should appear at their pre-modding prices, but, the sale values will be higher. This file is not strictly required.
By not using this file, all purchase prices will be much lower and all sale prices would remain the same as before modding. Your quest reward money would go further.
By using this file, you may instead be able to generate a good income selling herbs and other items but this may unbalance the game further than just a straight discount on purchase prices.

abilities\geralt_basic.xml adjusts the Haggler perk/ability to work with this mod. You will still receive a 20% discount. (Not yet tested but should work)

Requirements: Witcher Silver Sword Diagram in your inventory (Acquired at the very beginning of Act 1 in a glowing crate just after you jump off of Roche's ship as part of the quest "A Sword for Monsters").

Compatibility: In the event that this mod interferes with others, such as carry weight increase mods, there is a DIY.TXT file included instructing you how to manually edit the necessary files.

Installation: Extract "Market Price Mod 1.2.zip" into C:\Program Files (x86)\The Wicther 2\CookedPC\
Your directory path may differ.

Users of version 1.0 should delete def_item_misc.xml before updating.

Lovely.

Awesome I been waiting for a mod like this rep +1.
Thank you thank you thank you.

The vanilla buy:sell ratio is incredibly harsh, this should sort it out nicely without being too OTT. :D
So store keeps give you way more gold for items you sell? Interesting but I never even came remotely close to being short on gold in the game, more often than not you find\craft way better equipment than that of store bought stuff.
Nice job...As I played I was always trying to keep everything and running into over capacity issues because the deals were just horrible in comparison to what they sold it for. All that iron and silver ore was very heavy.

I might use this on my next play through.

Requirements: Newboy's Talisman/Melitele's Heart in your inventory.

Installation: Extract "Market Price Mod.zip" into The Wicther 2\CookedPC\items
Sorry for my confusion Paul, but is Newboy's Talisman required just for that file " def_prices.xml "?

I have moved on from that quest and really don't want to go back to it until I start another play through.

yes, whether you have it in Newboy's Talisman form, or got the magic fixed and created the heart, its still required to be in your inventory.

I working on trying to apply the effect to the Witchers Silver Sword Diagram, since you pretty much can't miss it (it's highlighted as soon as you jump off Roche's ship), it's part of the first quest you undertake in Act 1 (unless you imported another silver sword from the first game), you acquire it before running into any merchants and it can't be removed from your inventory. So far I haven't managed to do this without causing the game to crash on launch, which is why I elected to modify the existing effect properties of a different item.

Ahh, I see.
Have you thought about placing the effect on a book that can be purchased in chapter 1,
or any other none quest, merchant sold item?

Sticking it on a mundane item could lead to trouble for the player later in the game if it's accidentally sold or if the effect from multiple items stack. Placing the effect on a unique item that everyone would almost certainly freely acquire and can't lose would be the best idea.

And on that note I've figured it out anyway. Fixed a missing tag on the diagram and now it's working.

Here is the link to version 1.1 which changes the requirement from the Talisman's to the Witchers Silver Sword Diagram quest item (found in the glowing crate as soon as you jump off of Roche's ship at the beginning of Act 1).
If you already have 1.0 installed, delete def_item_misc.xml before extraction.

I do? I'm not familiar with that character, but it sounds like something I should make a note of for when I next see the doctor ;)
