Graphics, gameplay, and voice acting are all great. Overall a real treat for the PC gamers. I don't even mind the console traits that game has and have come around the using the 360 gamepad for my PC.

However in terms of plot: Chapter 1 was strong and memorable and Chapter 2 sucks balls.
I have tried both the army camp and the dwarf town and they both suck. Both are long strings of fetch quests where I have no idea what I am really doing or why.
What happened to that WWE guy who's killing kings? that was a cool plot thread but that was 5 HOURS AGO, now I don't even know what I am doing and am starting not to care anymore...

Witcher 1 has this same problem, just when the plot began to pick up u were teleported to some sleepy town to help some dumb zombie bitch with her wedding. Urgg

Other than that great game...
I find it hard to believe you have no idea what you are doing..unless you're not reading the in-game diaries at all. ill admit that chapter two on either side can be a bit confusing at first glance,it took me till my second playthrough before i fully understood the plot structures in Chapter 2.

So,all i can say is perhaps give it time and you will grow to understand it a bit more soon enough, and hopefully enjoy it =)

Of course, perhaps this isnt your type of rpg game either, considering that you obviously felt the same way about the Witcher 1.
I understand whats going on:
The horse kingdom and and the flame kingdom are on the verge of war over this valley.
There is a cured battlefield in the valley between the armies.
Mages might be behind the whole things (like they are in every RPG)

What I don't understand is why Garalt cares about any of this and why he is:
a) not looking for his Girlfriend
b) not looking for the kingslayer
Am on Ch. 2 as well and first thing I noticed is many of the quests no longer have quest markers showing on the map. One is forced to read the subtle hints and talk to the locals to get tips.

Personally I like it that way. Just found a random cave from "exploring", ran into the boss elemental and he dropped some phat lewt, lol
Well..i dont really know what you mean tbh mate. The information is all there in the game,as to why Geralt cares etc.

In chapter 2,depending on the side you chose..everything he is doing is all related to finding Triss or the Kingslayer. If you choose Roches path the focus is more on the Kingslayer. Whereas Iorveths path has more of a focus on Triss. At least, thats the way it seemed to me =)

Everything in between is tied into the main narrative..the cursed battleground etc. They are obstacles in his way. I dont really understand what you want. Its not like there are huge chunks of the story missing in Chapter 2 that make it somehow non sensical for Geralt to be involved in what he is doing.

Just wondering if you offer same insightful observation about a fight with giant terminator in that other "RPG" game on that other "social" network :)
Giant Terminator? I assume that is Mass Effect 2? What you are talking about?

PS: anyone who hasn't read this it was laugh out loud funny:

PPS: I just had an encounter with "garble"

Cannot argue with your observations,
Though I do not appreciate your methods :)

SOME PEOPLE ARE DUMB WAY BEYOND IMAGINATION.

they can say:

I don't understand....

or

I don't like the game that much....

But many LOOSERs say:

this sucks, that fails ...

That is the main thing that constitutes a dumb-down gene pool

To be fair, once Geralt and Zoltan makes their way to Vergen the first time around to retrieve items for lifting the curse, he's in a position to resume looking for traces of Letho and Triss, and possibly contacting Iorveth. Roche hasn't bothered to tell Geralt why he is so interested in Henselt's camp; and not lifting the mist blocks Henselt's assault, so Geralt will have more time to investigate Vergen in relative calm.

Agree with you there, some people always assume they are "awesome" at everything, therefore their failure at something means that, that something must suck...

Admittedly I might have much more patience this morning that you, because I still think this could have been handled a little bit better :)
from your phrasing like calling kaedwen the "horse kingdom" and aedirn the "flame kingdom, it's plain to see you didn't really pay much attention and didn't read anything in the game. did you also skip the dialog and cutscenes?

you cannot fully enjoy this game without following the storyline. this is your own fault.

True enough. The story is what it is though, sure there are potential options to do this and that at various points..but this is a game, and within the story chapter 2 is quite well explained.

end of chapter one, cedric tells you exactly why geralt should care. you are one of those guys who play the game but not play the game at the same time. the crying just makes you look even worst.
