so i found this bandit outpost somewhere in the woods around flotsam, where some dead scoia'tel folks are hanging from the trees and suddenly geralt starts moving on his own. he runs out of battle and then .. nothing. only things that work now are esc and he mouse. tried restart, dind't help. tried last save 5 hours ago - no problem at all. but the current problem persists. please, i am in dire need of some help.

I know this is totally not helpful, but how in the world did you manage to go five hours without an auto save? :p

Did you fiddle with the controls? Check the Options, maybe you changed controls from keyboard/mouse to gamepad or vice versa.

well, it is quite possible by overwriting the fast saves and running around the woods. since there are no more loading screens, there ain't any auto saves when entering a new area. the mouse i working, and as i said, previous saves do not show any similar problems.

Asking CDP for support and sending them the game save might be a good idea.

You have to drop the save, its literally dead. I had the same problem... sadly. But you definitely should have saves from before, TW2 does not overwrite saves and creates dozens of autosaves.

That said, i probably had every variation of this bug already, sometimes i am stuck just walking WSAD (not diagonally, and my mouse look is locked) which fixes itself when i get hit by an enemy. This happens when you are locked on an enemy, press R and are hit before the Animation finishes.

I encountered the exact same issue while doing the cave quest in chapter 1. I ended up having to load an earlier save and it happened again. On the third try I finally managed to finish the quest.

I experienced the same bug at a different location (outside the cave under Flotsam). I managed to fix it though.

I don't remember how, but I think it was one of the following:
Sheath/redraw you sword and try moving? Try dodging?

More likely: Meditate and then try moving afterwards

sometimes i experience a glitch where Geralt won't move while using kb/mouse. and last night i couldn't get him to swing his sword even though i had it out. i could use my powers, but he wouldn't swing. i ended up quitting and reloading where i was. then it started working again. so yah, def some glitches there.

I had a same problem only thing to do is to load game from previous save and play again

I got stuck in the opening dungeon, I quicksaved and then loaded that quicksave, he was able to move then.

I've experienced this a few times as well in chapter 2. It's either you can only look around with the mouse or only able to use WASD to walk, but nothing else works. If I remember correctly it always seem to happen after I used an item from my pocket.

Either way, had to always reload a few saves back to fix it. Pretty dang annoying.
