So I purchased Witcher 2 from GOG about a month ago. Since then I have been unsuccessfully trying to install the bloody thing. Getting various errors and heading to the support forums to try to work them out, and reinstalling about a dozen times. After a frustrating while I sent for help, and a member of the GOG support staff got in touch with me. You know what his answer was? Reinstall the game. You know what he said when that didn't work? Reinstall the game.

Finally the new updated installer for v1.3 came out, and I thought my problems were solved... and it didn't work either. GOG of course will not refund my money, thanks to their "all sales are final" policy. I understand that it's very necessary for such a policy to be in place in this sort of sales environment, but that leaves me without my $30 and without the game I paid for. Yay. Considering the fact that I also had some trouble with Spellforce Platinum, the only other game I've ever bought at GOG, I think it's safe to say that I will never buy games here again. I encourage others to follow suit.

I downloaded the game from my place, with 256 kbps(that is 32KiloBytes/sec) internet speed..took me a week and more to download the game.

After that, I just clicked installed..game installed and all working fine*.

Best buy ever on GOG.

If you want to give it another try,
could you please tell me which operating system you are running and which
drive (with path) you are trying to install the games on?

Would also be great if you could list the specific errors you are experiencing.

Some tips.
(1) If the installers are corrupt in any way shape or form, download them using the GOG Downloader.
(2) Run the installers in administrator mode.
(3) Always install games outside of the default Program Files folders (e.g. C:\Games\).
(4) Run the games in administrator mode, this shouldn't be necessary if you haven't
installed them in one of the Program Files folders.

Remember that NOT doing step (3) will most likely render newer games on newer operating systems (Vista++) unplayable.

So... do you get an error message? If so, what is it? Do you have any other problems using or installing programs on your computer? Is your version of Windows fully updated? Are you sure your motherboard BIOS is configured correctly? Are you using a RAID array or any non-standard setup? Does your system adhere to the recommended requirements, or are you trying to run it on an ARM netbook or something? If you want help in getting your problem solved, you'll need to provide more details. From the sound of it, your computer may have bigger problems.

I thing that it is not a problem of the game and the GOG, but of your PC.

Try a different PC, then compare it to yours if it works.

As others have already stated, many members of the GOG community would be happy to help you troubleshoot it, if you'd like to give it another go.

Most people (including me) have been able to run the game from GOG without any problems, so it is likely possible to get your copy working properly. senbon has already listed some great tips to start with, and if you could post back with more info about your system and the exact errors you are receiving we can provide more specific advice.

I beg to differ. I just want to say, that i have no technical or qualitative issues with the game. I have faced only one crash of the game during three complete play-trough probably caused by faulty PSU. Finally, attitude of the developers towards the gamers community is excellent.

Hardly, I am simply pointing out that his initial note does not seem to agree with his later communicated perception of the situation.

I am saying that he is either looking for attention or it out of blood, after all why would someone title their post with "Loss of $30 for me. Yay." rather than...
