I only noticed it mentioned a couple time on these forums.

Once you complete Bring It On: Flotsam, you can armwrestle Bartholomew Bargee over, and over for 20 XP each time.

That is not a lot, but it adds up if you are using the competition to make orens.

It would be a very boring way to level up, but it can be rather serendipidous if you need just a bit more xp to level and are set on padding your pockets as well. (Earning orens from the wrestlers in other chapters, after completing the quests, is possible without extra xp.)
Nice. I doubt its usefulness though. The money is however always welcome.
On two different play throughs, Geralt was just shy of a level heading to Kayran.

In three rounds of armwrestling he leveled and was 600 orens richer. Pretty useful to me.

I see. I agree that at early levels it does make a difference.
Hmm.
I think I'm still gonna stick with meditating to respawn monsters.

That way gets me less cash, but somewhat faster xp, plus lots of ingredients from herbs as well as drops ... I sorta like having a lot of ingredients for bombs.

Although, I guess you can use cash to buy herbs.
I want someone with no life to get to level 30 in flotsom, on insane. Cakewalk (For the rest of the game)

err no life speaking here, playing on hard i didn't use the arms wrestling exploit but rather the instant i got to flotsom i did no quests rather just started grinding monsters around the waterfall and cave until i stopped gaining experience. That got me to lvl 14 no higher, however after doing all quests and side quests it turns out that the maximum level you can obtain in flotsom is lvl 18 almost 19 (17992) just 8 xp points shy of 19 before choosing sides. After the kayran battle i was getting quests completed left and right but NO XP at all, however once you choose a side , XP can be gained again via quests (but still not monsters) I'm still level 19 just about to leave act 1. (Just left act one heard the lvl up sound so im assuming im at least lvl 20 starting act 2) (ok new update almost level 21 the first time i could open my character screen in act 2 19906 xp )Maybe you can get more XP with a different path in act 1 but that would be minimal as its at the very end of act 1 , well see but there deffinately seems to be a limit to how much exp per act you can get, ill make a post when im finished grinding out act 2 for xp.

The downside of grinding is its tedious but its a new game and its good training, the upshot is from selling all those nekker teeth and endrega hide etc, im well, rich...i broke 60,000 orens in act 1 !, visited the brothel about 20 times at around 150-200 a pop and didn't even make a dent in my orens ;)

LOL. That is some stamina that Geralt has.

Yeah, I never brought up the armwrestling as a means to power level. That it aint. If you are 100-200 xp below level and want a chang of pace + a couple thousand orens, then sure.

I like Gloomfrost's strategy for true power leveling, btw. And Nekker teeth are a great way to make the bucks.
Thanks hanns. just made it to act 2 wow what a game. Doesn't feel short to me after all that grinding ;)

Your first run? Nice. Many happy returns!
you can farm xp at the ballista in the prologe (if you fail the clicking game it spawns soldiers).. i did in my insane game just to die by the dragon later :P
Yeah mzprox, i did that as well ;)

found that it was a little faster to get them to spawn after loading the balista, but repeatedly failing to aim the balista was faster. Could only grind to lvl 3 with the Balista then do all the quests and get to act 1 like i did. Tedious yes but good learning experience especially against the shield guys.

Yes and hanns.g this is my first time through the game only started act 2.

The area I exploited was the never-ending spawns of Harpy's just outside the Visionary's home in Chapter 2. The respawn shut off either because I lifted the curse off Henselt, or maybe earlier when I walked through the mist, not sure. But the first time you encounter the guy, they never stop respawning, and they respawn like every 15 seconds.

They drop claws (which have no purpose I've found other than money), other harpy-based ingredients, and 1-2 lesser mutagens, which are the real money earners. I filled my packs and returned over and over, earned about 6K all told.

Yes! Another good one.

I don't think they give xp though. But that is besides the point.

Also, when I went there before having a quest to do so, I kept getting the Visionary's emote on my screen, no matter how far away I got.

Still, great cash crop.

Slightly related, but amusing (at least to me): In Jagged Alliance 2, you could have your mercenaries visit a brothel. Aside from filling the screen with a winking smiley face accompanied by appropriate sound effects, this resulted in your mercenary losing some stamina (temporarily, not off maximum stamina; there was no risk of VD ;)) and gaining morale -- and experience too, IIRC.
